Oct 4, 2011 - In the last example you have multiplied the first equation with 4 to get -36y and 36y and you've got: -12x -36y = 264. Now, i just noticed that if you multiplied it with 7 instead to get -21x and 21 x, you would have gotten: -21x - 63y =462 and i couldn't help but notice the cool inversion of digits. How do you explain that?

Feb 18, 2012 - Why didn't you just say 4 x -18, which comes out to -72? The sudden appearance of a 40 and some other numbers was - for me at least - totally confusing.

Feb 24, 2012 - My broker friend helped me with the last problem. But he multiplies too fast IMO.He also helped with the first problem, which is how I understand where you got the -72 from.

May 20, 2012 - I have one that's like this:3x-4y=12y= 3/4x-1and I get a 0 when I try to substitute y from the top equation with the bottom and try to factor out the x.
darklinkzx2 Says:
May 20, 2012 - I also have another one that I did get an answer to but it seems wrong. Don't know if anybody can concur if it's correct.2x - y = 6y = -4/3x+1I get : x=17/3 and y= -59/9
