HarisExpendable Says:
May 4, 2012 - Isn't this considered racist?
directedition Says:
May 4, 2012 - *considered* racist? Probably. Is it racist? No. He isn't make any judgement of value or superiority. He is taking a social construct familiar with one society and applying it to another. The premise of taking the rules of one construct and applying it to a construct to which it does not belong is the basis for most absurdist humor. But when when that crosses racial boundaries, people try to eek out meaning where there is none.
HarisExpendable Says:
May 4, 2012 - That was quite a reply.. you seem pretty knowledgeable...:)
doobeedoo58 Says:
May 6, 2012 - yes it is....very racists...anyone who cannot see how racist this is just stupid
doobeedoo58 Says:
May 6, 2012 - thtat's a pretty sugar coated neo politically correct way of saying you support this racist BS. Carlin has been "bashing" Native Americans and using these stereotypes in his comedy for year. It's just that people have become aclimated to this type of racist stereotyping that it's pretty much mundane to them. If he had used Blacks or Hispanics a lot of people would have found it objectionable. A lot of Native Americans find this derogatory and insulting.
directedition Says:
May 6, 2012 - Years? Find me another stand-up routine in which he even mentions indians.
kev95 Says:
May 7, 2012 - There isn't any racism, might want to tune down that offended meter of yours
flycentro123 Says:
May 8, 2012 - I cant stand Carlin.... He reminds me of the old man in your neighborhood yelling at you to get off his yard. He is the bruce springsteen of comediens... most people hate him, but he definitely has a following who thinks he is the greatest thing ever.
liamlloyd77 Says:
May 12, 2012 - Racism doesnt exist to intellectuals and evolved humans like george carlin.Thats some primitive monkey bullshit, racism is. I dont take that word seriously
adicakes Says:
May 16, 2012 - such bollocks
Scum71succer Says:
May 16, 2012 - if you think for a second (explaining comedy and satire is hard an English is not my native tongue), he's showing that either the US army guys are just as dumb as the natives or the natives just as smart...well duh common sense dictates that is they was morons the war would have lasted shorter or if the US are not morons how come they had such a hard time with the moron Indians...it's cleverly constructed and a tad to intellectual I tell you that but still good comedy/satire
Scum71succer Says:
May 16, 2012 - Naaaaaaaaah especially if you actually are familiar with his work he's more making fun of the way the US Gov vs Native Americans war is portrayed in history books and movies. He's a complex guy what can ya do ?
mortum000 Says:
May 20, 2012 - audio was a little out of synch but i hardly noticed, too busy laughing my fucking ass off
OKBoognish Says:
May 20, 2012 - Only when man can learn to take a fucking joke can we learn to progress as a human race.
emiel4sma Says:
May 20, 2012 - Anybody who says Carlin is a racist should read his books where he writes about how he thinks about all thise "racist black/white/yellow/purple shit-talk-cocksuckers" and where he actually defends the indiancultures and names all of them. This is old stuff, and not that harmfull. Carlin was clearly NOT a racist!!!
WalleWildberrie Says:
May 20, 2012 - How is this racist? He's using a stereotype of one culture and applying it to something else, in a very clever and above all else, funny, way. He's not being offensive towards the stereotypical American military sergeants, nor is he being offensive towards native Americans.
tiarnan76 Says:
May 21, 2012 - This is obviously long before he started ripping Bill Hicks off...
ultimatepedrodude330 Says:
May 22, 2012 - he does actually mention native americans in i think his 1996 special but george carlin is anything but racist. he is very sympathetic towards native americans and minorities and agrees they have been treated badly, george carlin wouldnt support the mistreatment or hatred of anyone other than those who mistreat and hate others
MrFloppy19 Says:
May 24, 2012 - The Indian Sergeant from Brooklyn pretty much :P
zyxwvutsrqponml1234 Says:
May 25, 2012 - you say a lot of native americans find this derogatory and insulting, can you name the ones who are insulted or are you just presuming to speak on their behalf ?
DarkestMetal Says:
May 28, 2012 - He's mostly making fun of sargeants... and how no matter the army they're all the same... Awesome btw
doobeedoo58 Says:
May 29, 2012 - can you pull you head out of your ass long enough to listen to this crap? What? You want the names of hundred thousands of Native that find this objectionable? You are pretty ignorant if you can't see the racism and bigotry that is in this "comedy" sketch. Yes, he does put down a race of people...you don't see it because you are pretty much immune to it. Like I said, if it were blacks or hispanics, the posts on here would be calling for Carlin's head on a platter.
zyxwvutsrqponml1234 Says:
May 29, 2012 - i want you to pull YOUR head out of YOUR ass and name one. if you can't name one then you are merely speculating. unless you heard it first hand from a real life Native American then you are just fabricating lies. i'd bet not one single Native American told you in person they were offended by George Carlin. in fact i'd be willing to bet you don't even know one Native American person. so blow it out of your ass you pretentious jackass. have you never heard of jokes before ?
