Pierre8907 Says:
Aug 22, 2009 - I dont Consider George Lucas a :"great film director he did the Original star wars like a million years ago, But yes Steven Spielberg is a great director his movies have been very consistent over his film making career. But James Cameron leap frogs over time from Brilliant film to brilliant film. Thats why i think no one is really on par with him not by a long shot. Its about Quality not Quantity.
BenMcCormack91 Says:
Oct 14, 2009 - Not to put-down Justice League or Avengers, but James Cameron is, if you ask me, one of the most intelligent writer/directors in Hollywood at the moment - "Titanic" is just as brilliant as anything that's been made in the last two decades, honestly (possible exception being "Synecdoche, New York" or "Eyes Wide Shut").I think his stories just have too much emotional sensitivity for him to transition fluently to something like that, personally... Very different, stylistically.
BenMcCormack91 Says:
Oct 14, 2009 - Cameron is a good example of the sort of Kubrick-style director - not in the way he directs, but at least in the frequency. Spielberg, I think, tends to shift between serious filmmaking and making film for fun.The other thing is that Cameron - like Kubrick - also writes his own films, and given that he seems a very intelligent writer, his films, along with being well-written, have the cohesion that comes with being written and directed by the same person - a clearer unity of vision, I think.
usmcjoe1981 Says:
Oct 16, 2009 - i wish James Cameron would take back his baby (Terminator Franchise) and finish off the movie series, the right way. Like he did in T1 and T2
navylaks2 Says:
Nov 16, 2009 - He was asked to direct Spider-man once
navylaks2 Says:
Nov 16, 2009 - L.O.L.Yeah people would do anything to take him down just becausse he is so succesfull. And now the people that made the unsuccesfull Delgo are claiming that he copied alot of there designs.
navylaks2 Says:
Nov 16, 2009 - Maybe he should direct the Metal Gear film
BenMcCormack91 Says:
Nov 28, 2009 - I generally go by the Robert McKee definition - a plot is merely a transformation from one state to another (in a character, a society, a relationship, etc.), and the details of how said transformation comes to be.From that perspective, Cameron's movies have wonderful plots - true, they're not avant-garde, but as stories that follow a classical plot structure, his films like "Titanic" and "True Lies" are about as good as you can get. And as far as dialogue, both of those movies have plenty.
mandrek485 Says:
Dec 17, 2009 - honestly.... i don't think he'll ever direct a video movie like that
theinsane102 Says:
Dec 18, 2009 - Boooooooo!
mfnstudioschannel Says:
Dec 22, 2009 - LOL! Spielberg is the best director ever! His work is pure art, as well as Cameron's. But Steven Spielberg is my personal favorite. He will always have something, that James Cameron doesn't have.
BenMcCormack91 Says:
Dec 24, 2009 - I don't know if I'd say best EVER, but I usually don't think in terms of one guy who stands out over everyone else. But yeah - Spielberg is probably the biggest sentimentalist in filmmaking today, and I don't say that as criticism. His ability to evoke sincere emotions is stunning. I think Cameron can evoke emotion; he withholds it more than Spielberg, though. Hard to name one favorite director for me though - I love Kubrick, Lang, Spielberg, Cameron...
evhgl87 Says:
Dec 26, 2009 - cameron leaves alot of wiggle room though for your mind to wander and tie loops to ends, and just roam free afterwards. thats what i love about his meats and potatoes writing - it leaves room for your own dissections and imagination to take over on the VERY awsome polishness that you describe which leaves you in awe in the first place. he's my personal favorite, especially now that ive seen avatar twice and appreciate the dialogue/layout so much.
dimatube Says:
Dec 28, 2009 - yes the avatar plot is wack but have u ever seen T2 aka one of the greatest movies alive? ur telling me that plot or story or writing has been used before?
AcousticTyGuy Says:
Dec 29, 2009 - I thought the story was extremely predictable and cliched, but every other aspect of the Avatar movie was great.
jayjonsin Says:

Jul 22, 2009 - To afatexplorer:"needs no introduction? i didn't know who this guy was till i read the comments!"The fuck you been the past 15+ years? Rotting in some hole you call a home, watching nothing but hentai p0rn?James Cameron is a GOD amongst directors, known for his artistic talent, and amazing visuals. Yet, more important then his visual performance is his STORY TELLING that captures the imagination of the audience. So do us all a favor and uninstall Windows while sliting your wrists.
