Sep 15, 2011 - SRV strat sounds much smooother! And more balanced without harshness. Also better harmonics. The KWS sounds too harsh and shrill or sharp.

Oct 13, 2011 - Prefer the sound of the pickups in the KWS over the Texas specials in the SRV. I like the punch!

Dec 5, 2011 - i think you're spot on dude, both guitars are awesome , just like the players themselves , but , to my ears anyway , the Stevie Ray model is like Stevie Ray himself , simply the best !!! ;-))

Feb 29, 2012 - I really like the tone at 4:45 from the KWS one, it's dirty and noisy but i guess in overall the SRV one wins :\

Mar 25, 2012 - In my opinion KWS sounds better !

Apr 11, 2012 - KWS strat sounded very muddy and harsh whilst the SRV strat was a lot cleaner and more of a balanced tone

Apr 16, 2012 - It doesn't matter what pups you put in the KWS it can't touch the tone of your SRV. I'm more of a metal fan but you have to acknowledge good tone when you hear it.

Apr 18, 2012 - I got the Bell Tone pickups in my guitar, I love them and I think they are far better than TX Specials. Check out this video for the sound. youtube.com/watch?v=oOEX3kBEHcM

Apr 18, 2012 - I found it.You tube recently blocked links from comments. Search for this in YouTube: "Tommy Katona Live at the Caddy I". Awesome video and great tone with the Bell Tones!
carlmacedo Says:
Apr 18, 2012 - I swapped out my Texas Specials from my SRV strat in favor of the Bell Tone pickups. Setting up the proper string and pickup height is important to get the just right tone with the Bell Tones. I would highly recommend them to anyone wanting a full bodied tone with tons of sustain. I have tried a lot of different pickups (Texas Specials, Stock fender, Fralins, Duncans, etc.) and the Bell Tone pickups really kick their butt in my opinion. My search for perfect pickups is over. Mojo found!

Apr 28, 2012 - love your vids but have to pull you up,I've had graph tec because of the breakage.no way do you need them just go up,i cant play 11's now they feel and sound crap.12,15,18,28,38,52,only way to go.i promise you.no offence to you or KWS,love the guy,but it it is as you say,a slight trade off for tone.i encouraging people try the 12s,you get used to it so quick, you'll never go back

May 13, 2012 - KWS now sounds better hands down. Jazz cats and mell-o blues guys will prefer the SRV ... but the KWS now is a snarling monster of a blues guitar (for my mind). Obviously you played a few in the store before purchasing the KWS, and then improved the pickups. If you were selling one of them, I would be the buyer on the KWS...

Aug 26, 2011 - I saw Kenny last night in Foxboro, Mass. He signed my strat and after the meet and great, he pulled out this strat and it sounded awesome. What pickups did you use in your KWS strat?
