Dec 26, 2011 - Chomsky is inserting his opinion when he says that Madison thought the "primary goal" of government was to Protect the opulent from the majority. In fact in context Madison used an Analogy that if all people in England were to vote equally then the result would be land divided up and given to the poor (socialism). So Madison thought that democracy could lead to this type of Socialism and now Senators and the Electoral college reflect this balance of power. To say "Primary goal" is misleading.

Dec 31, 2011 - People don't worship george bush here. The corporate govt that has taken over the country is the problem. The purpose of govt, under the constitution is to protect individual rights....The price of health care is high because it is partially paid for by the govt (medicare/medicade) this has driven the cost up. It is an insurance company scam...if we revert back to the constitution, and remove corporate control the US will be a great country again.most hate the govt

rogerable77 Says:

Dec 31, 2011 - The vast majority of americans do not want empire or nation building.Ron Paul 2012

SmileyGarrish Says:

Dec 31, 2011 - The Vast Majority has been entirely irrelevant throughout American History, and by that I mean what actually happened and why, not what you and the vast majority think happened. America was born destroying treaties and established law; the 'founding fathers' fought the British only so that they themselves could become Dark OverLords, exploiting and abusing their own people. The foreign policy of these same people has been one of deceit, betrayal, murder, and mass collateral damage.

SmileyGarrish Says:

Dec 31, 2011 - have you seen Lion King 1 and 1/2 ?

Jan 5, 2012 - The US is a farce totally controlled by the dirty Jews. It's a filthy, dirty, rotten country in every way. Just look at its history. The US's mindless idolization of muddled words such as democracy, free enterprise, and equal rights serves as an ideal cover from the fact that its a brutal dictatorship based on lies, based on theft. Its a fake country controlled by a criminal, lunatic race that's going to get what's coming to it very soon.

Jan 7, 2012 - It took me forever to get this achievement on lfd2.. wait...

Zatzzo Says:

Jan 20, 2012 - does chomsky mean that HE himself rarely votes and sometimes votes republican?

TemplarLeonem Says:

Feb 12, 2012 - @SmileyGarrishReally?'DarkOverlords'?Comic-book descriptives are a poor substitute for actual historical analysis and commentary.Try actually studying the topic. Not just look at the pictures.

TempIarLeonem Says:

Feb 12, 2012 - Ponder, to wit: The cognitive dissonance seen in my behavior whereby I regale in labeling others as "gay" yet where I myself am a charter member of the "Putt from the Rough" Golf Club.Rather farcical, no? Post hoc, ergo propter hoc, for the preterites and supines of this manner of kallends never ceases to amaze. But then I like to take dick up my "poop chute" and go for calming Sunday morning drives down Brown Dirt Road, if you know what I mean. I love you all, gay brothers on this thread.

TempIarLeonem Says:

Feb 12, 2012 - @SmileyGarrish, Because the people owning the resources and production is worse than a few people own everything and the rest being servants Americans don't even have property rights. If you really owned your land then the government couldn't take it away from you, and sell it to corporations.. property tax is a form of rent. Why do you insist on trying to upstage me here, I am the King of this thread, and you are a fucking peon. You anal wart. I wouldn't enjoy your mouth on my penis.

TemplarLeonem Says:

Feb 13, 2012 - Please note substitution of 'I' for'l' in TemplarLeonem.A mere impostor, and poorly done. The juvenille emotionality and barracks-language evinces.

TemplarLeonem Says:

Feb 13, 2012 - Probably the greatest insult this childish stalker has done is to perpetrate the hoax that I, TemplarLeonem, would mealymouth such progressive spew.Only lobotomization could so reduce my intellect.I will say, such liberal tripe is unsuprising, coming as it does from such a hebephrene.

Scientisticsoviet Says:

Feb 23, 2012 - Corporations and wealthy individuals have always (since the beginning of their existence) attempted to shape policy in their favor. It is not a new phenomenon; Albeit industrialization accelerated it (due to the necessity of accumulation/concentration brought about by capital intensive industry).

Scientisticsoviet Says:

Feb 23, 2012 - Other issue; Our healthcare here in Canada is mostly fully paid by the government (with small exceptions such as dental) and yet we only spend 10% of GDP on it (compared with your 16-17% of GDP).

derek8171 Says:

Apr 18, 2012 - Screw that social stigma pressure. I am a communist. I just wish we had the technology to make it realistic option.

rightontimetwo Says:

May 3, 2012 - I've had the privilege of reading ,Manufacturing Consent, Necessary illusions and Deterring Democracy, and honestly I can say I agree with about every political perspective he has. When he says there is little contrast between the two dominating political parties in America, he couldn't be more truthful.

rightontimetwo Says:

May 3, 2012 - Under the Bush administration we were given a false casus belli for invading Iraq and an almost doubling of our national debt. Now it could only validate the American publics credulity in the fact that they would even consider voting for Mitt Romney, who is an proponent of American exceptionalism.

mainHERO88 Says:

May 13, 2012 - Oh. Decent healthcare. Is that all it takes to make a great country?

mainHERO88 Says:

May 13, 2012 - I'm confused. I find this video interesting but he keeps on trying to say what we should do and he doesnt really say. He just says "do you wanna live in a democracy or or not?" Is he saying that we should leave if we don't like it?

Regenmacher175 Says:

May 14, 2012 - well war, social/economical inequality and civil liberties abuses don't make a great country that's for sure.
