Dec 21, 2010 - I've got a tee-shirt with this on it - amusing to watch peoples reactions. Like the quote, some get it and others don't :-)

Dec 31, 2010 - Reminds me of reloading a gun...
MorrisMcGurk Says:
Jan 19, 2011 - I disagree with "the machine's not really useful anyway." Maybe not as a practical calculator, but it would make an excellent teaching tool in a classroom, especially in an eight-bit version.
supercalifragments Says:
Feb 21, 2011 - Okay! GOOD WORK! What is the square root of (-12)?

Apr 28, 2011 - This thing is waay better than the ancient abbacus :p in case of addition anyway.

May 7, 2011 - I'd like to see slo-mo video of two marbles arriving in a gate at once. I just can't see what is happening at normal speed...

May 14, 2011 - What happens if you put in 63+63?
rgt4all Says:
Jun 9, 2011 - wouldnt that be 01 ? as in 2 kinds of people?
FromHalo2halo Says:
Jun 16, 2011 - in 2 bit binary, the first bit represents the number 2 and the second represents the number 1, so if the bits are 1 and 0, there would be 2 kinds of people.
rgt4all Says:
Jun 16, 2011 - always thought it works from 1 to whatever number you want like: 1 2 4 8 16 32 etc. but you mean it's 32 16 8 4 2 1 ?
thegozer100 Says:
Jun 23, 2011 - WOW nice mechanics, thumps up from me
PivotMasterD1 Says:
Jun 23, 2011 - You're thinking big-endian. This machine, like your computer, is little-endian. Both are acceptable.

Aug 5, 2011 - thanks. I used your plans and i made my calculator. works perfectly. i just have the back mechanism pending. I discovered that the marbles are ovoid.

Oct 11, 2011 - Or at least binary.
Wingsabr Says:
Mar 1, 2012 - In binary there is only two types of anything.

Mar 9, 2012 - with a two represented as 10

Nov 12, 2010 - sorry, but that's wrong. "Unary" works different: it actually uses only one number, but that is not zero; Unary is a non-positional numeral system. Unary is like counting fingers. ||| represents 3 in decimal, and ||||| represents 5. for legibility, every fifth stroke is usually crossed over the the four strokes before - it's the basic tally-mark system you usually use for keeping track of an ongoing score.
