UPDATE: Ireland's Commission to Inquire into Child Abuse has released a damming report on abuse in reformatories (these 'schools' were also tax-supported), including Magdelene Laundries, run by the Catholic Church in Ireland. The report found abuse was edemic and spread throughout all of the institutions. Victims of the abuse have been lobbying for an investigation for many years, and although the report is detailed the names of abusers are missing from it. In most asylums, the inmates were required to undertake hard physical labour such as laundry work. In Ireland, such asylums were known as Magdalene Laundries. It has been estimated that 30,000 women were admitted during the 150-year history of these institutions, often against their will. The last Magdalene Asylum in Ireland closed on September 25, 1996. Sep 8, 2011 - The lives of these women were destroyed for political, religious and social. Enclose girls were the only way to cover the appearances of a church that has long, is corrupt. The nuns reflect the Pakistani Taliban, Iranian ... the moral guardians of society.The State having no means social and economic poussaitt families lost their daughters to reject, by sending them to prison Catholics.

Oct 19, 2011 - I'm a catholic, but i wasn't brought up with religion and i study it. The fact is the translation of ' Virgin ' means only ' Young woman ' not no sex before marriage. The Catholic church has been a business, right from the time of Constantine, selling holy relics for profit all through the middle ages, and more. From 12th century Catholic Priests are not allowed to marry only because the Church doesn't want Church property going to spouses. Plus the cover-up of babies of nuns.

The Bishops of Winchester ' Winchester geese ' and their code was the rose. Even Doctor of the church Thomas Aquinas agreed that prostitution was a ' Necessary evil ' and approved of clergy's use of prostitution if they needed to!

Jan 11, 2012 - no no only broke away from Rome and murdered a few thousand Catholics lol I am being sarcastic, both Churches have made mistakes and done things wrong. The Roman Church could be blaimed for the crusades and the Protestant Church for burning Catholics in England and so on, we all make mistakes but at the end of the day its the same God and as long as we long and serve him thats what counts! May 11, 2012 - I know for a fact that this is not a lie..My grandmother was in one of these "asylums" I have full proof of just how snakey the catholic church is..they put her in their coz she was pregnant and she wasnt married..they almost took her child(my uncle) away forever..and their right it was much worse than depicted...I Want nothing to do with the catholic church..I Belive in Jesus and God But them bastards deserve whats coming to them.
