Description:
UPDATE: Ireland's Commission to Inquire into Child Abuse has released a damming report on abuse in reformatories (these 'schools' were also tax-supported), including Magdelene Laundries, run by the Catholic Church in Ireland. The report found abuse was edemic and spread throughout all of the institutions. Victims of the abuse have been lobbying for an investigation for many years, and although the report is detailed the names of abusers are missing from it. To read the Inquiry's report follow this link:http://www.childabusecommission.ie/rpt/Magdalene Asylums were institutions for so-called "fallen" women, most of them operated by different orders of the Roman Catholic Church. In most asylums, the inmates were required to undertake hard physical labour such as laundry work. In Ireland, such asylums were known as Magdalene Laundries. It has been estimated that 30,000 women were admitted during the 150-year history of these institutions, often against their will. The last Magdalene Asylum in Ireland closed on September 25, 1996. Sep 7, 2011 - Religious leaders and corrupt hypocrites often forget that Jesus himself spoke of the love of neighbor and forgiveness!

claire19850404 Says:

Sep 8, 2011 - The lives of these women were destroyed for political, religious and social. Enclose girls were the only way to cover the appearances of a church that has long, is corrupt. The nuns reflect the Pakistani Taliban, Iranian ... the moral guardians of society. The State having no means social and economic poussaitt families lost their daughters to reject, by sending them to prison Catholics.

Efrasios Says:

Oct 16, 2011 - Its such a shame that the actions of some terrible people have brought down the name of the most holy Church, may they burn in Hell for their disgusting unchristian crimes which they proclaimed to be doing in the name of God!

sarajanegarr Says:

Oct 17, 2011 - Don't Ever Tell by kathy O'Beirne.I finished reading it the other day, a good book, her story told with her own words. May all sufferers of the magdelane laundries find peace x

Oct 19, 2011 - I'm a catholic, but i wasn't brought up with religion and i study it. The fact is the translation of ' Virgin ' means only ' Young woman ' not no sex before marriage. The Catholic church has been a business, right from the time of Constantine, selling holy relics for profit all through the middle ages, and more. From 12th century Catholic Priests are not allowed to marry only because the Church doesn't want Church property going to spouses. Plus the cover-up of babies of nuns.

66Shellz Says:

Oct 19, 2011 - Good video and info.

66Shellz Says:

Oct 19, 2011 - Ok, i'll say this finally, there is a book called ' Lucifers Lodge ' and there is some information that says in the middle ages the Catholic church ran brothels, the prostitutes paid taxes to the church. The Bishops of Winchester ' Winchester geese ' and their code was the rose. Even Doctor of the church Thomas Aquinas agreed that prostitution was a ' Necessary evil ' and approved of clergy's use of prostitution if they needed to!

Dec 14, 2011 - Lol this shows why modern christen women are coming out so aggressively - they use to imprison young catholic girls even if they were raped by their coussins and babies taken away not even a 100 year ago but only some 40 years ago - how medievil and shocking - so how many of these landry prisons were operating then - shame ....

Mirani2 Says:

knightofjustic Says:

Jan 11, 2012 - what about all those peiole who went forward and said what the church did fox news is biased not every news cast

Efrasios Says:

Jan 11, 2012 - no no only broke away from Rome and murdered a few thousand Catholics lol I am being sarcastic, both Churches have made mistakes and done things wrong. The Roman Church could be blaimed for the crusades and the Protestant Church for burning Catholics in England and so on, we all make mistakes but at the end of the day its the same God and as long as we long and serve him thats what counts! God bless

Efrasios Says:

Jan 11, 2012 - love and serve*

knightofjustic Says:

Jan 11, 2012 - ah but what about what both did to the other religions

Efrasios Says:

Jan 11, 2012 - well actually Catholicism itself has never done anything wrong, only people who are Catholic have done bad things.

knightofjustic Says:

Jan 11, 2012 - well year but that like saying guns never kill anyone the people with guns do. no religion has done anything wrong as it not a living person

nonamehasaname Says:

Jan 19, 2012 - Your welcome. I just watched the film and I was horrified. I thought Priests in America were bad.

nonamehasaname Says:

Jan 19, 2012 - This is a disgraced to the Irish and the Catholic for hurting young women. How dare Priests and nuns deny this happened. Fuck you catholics. No wonder people don't like your ass

lindapittsburgh Says:

Feb 19, 2012 - a disgrace and not an example of LOVE that the NUNS profess to practice.

lindapittsburgh Says:

Apr 17, 2012 - It does not become you to say "F... you catholics".I'm an agnostic, so don't worry or swear at me.Young boys are hurt too, don't forget that.Adults should simply stay off children with their aggression, full stop.

Laura2kii8 Says:

May 11, 2012 - I know for a fact that this is not a lie..My grandmother was in one of these "asylums" I have full proof of just how snakey the catholic church is..they put her in their coz she was pregnant and she wasnt married..they almost took her child(my uncle) away forever..and their right it was much worse than depicted...I Want nothing to do with the catholic church..I Belive in Jesus and God But them bastards deserve whats coming to them.
