May 9, 2012 - actually... the so called butterflykick is one of the easyest jumping tricks....well at the place where i practiced a bit of shaolin kung fu like people that were at their first day did it by seeing the others practice it... the other juming tricks are trickier although they might look easier ... the trick is in the art where u have to land on the foot that is atatched to the leg u used for kicking XD that is a bit harder to get still some easy with loads of practice only on that specific move
LaurentyuXD Says:
May 9, 2012 - btw a kid in kindergarden did it after he practiced it for 5 minutes XD only thing dragging u down is that falling feeling u get at the first tries

TheDStecher Says:
May 28, 2012 - Brutal? May I remind you that shaolin monks are buddhists and strive for inner peace. The Shaolin Kung Fu fighting style was developed by peaceful buddhist monks to defend themselves against animal attacks as their temple was build in a forest. The monks practise flexibility, devotion, endurance, precision, willpower, focus and meditaion. All of these skills are required to excel at the combat techniques know to us as Shaolin Kung Fu though this concept consist of several fightingstyles.
TheDStecher Says:
May 28, 2012 - If you have seen the video of the shaolin monk fighting a korean Taekwondo master, you will see a grand example of this. The monk watches and carefully dodges every move awaiting the right moment to strike. The monks practise willpower, focus, devotion and meditation as some of the most important virtues a monk can posses along with flexibility, accuracy (precision) and endurance. Speed and power is not useful if it is not used correctly and the way of the Shaolin monk is to master these virtues

votremain Says:
May 29, 2012 - Despite the philosophical aspect, keep in mind we are still talking about a martial art. May I remind you that it was used on farms long before it was used in temples. It was necessary for farmers to be able to protect themselves and their crops from thieves and animals. Also, i don't know why you would downplay the obvious, to consider a martial art that killed hundreds of japanese pirates with less than 10 chinese casualties anything less than brutal would be disrespectful.
