Feb 7, 2012 - one of the best videos on the net.The amount of time globally thats wasted teaching kids crap thats irrelavant that could be spent on hiv, cancer and ageing research is astronomical.seriously when i was 16 we were being taught how to tell the difference between broadsheets and tabloids and were drawing pictures with crayons and watching disney cartoons(in our late teens we were doing stuff that 4 year olds could master a joke right?)by then we should have been doing scientific research

hakki368 Says:

Feb 8, 2012 - Sir Ken Robinson, There is a high school in the Philippines called Philippine High School of the Arts where student scholars are systematically educated in the arts (dance, drama, painting, music, etc.) alongside their basic high school education.

Feb 13, 2012 - yan ba yung malapit sa UPLB? grabe ang ganda dun! nakakainggit!

hakki368 Says:

Feb 13, 2012 - yes it's near UPLB. a beautiful place indeed.

BachEmotion Says:

Feb 26, 2012 - when was this talk given?

Bboyd88 Says:

Mar 11, 2012 - thats not what this video is about... Quite the opposite. You literally are saying the opposite thing that Ken is saying. You just did what he said that the economic pillar of society is doing to the education system by promoting what is economically viable and dismissing other subjects you deem 'unworthy'... I think you might want to watch it again.

MrMovieoreo2 Says:

Mar 11, 2012 - i agree with you i know what he means but he also means that the education system was designed for sorting out jobs but with the industrial age over it needs to adapt to an age to cater peoples intrinsic needs but also needs to adapt to adress the growing problems in society:global warming, how to feed a growing population if we are to survive as a species our means of educating our kids and each other and utilise humanities collective creativity and intelligence

MrMovieoreo2 Says:

Mar 11, 2012 - must change. i understand what you and he meant i was just saying that also our education system also wastes time also wastes time that could be spent on scientific research to further human knowledge is astronomical

Mar 12, 2012 - I love rational people such as this. Go on an education video that attracts a bunch of union teachers to it, and you'll see another large reason why this system is so messed up. As Ken Robinson was saying, its a systematic problem. Unions, politicians, administrators. It's all irrational talk and ideaology everywhere you go in the educational hierarchy.

Nadifymoh Says:

Mar 21, 2012 - That we are all keen to reform education systems is wonderful. In addition to this, what are we doing to stand up for the BASIC RIGHT to ACCESS education to begin with?In Iran today, systematic suppression of individuals and selected groups of peoples involves denying them the basic right to education. Don't know about this? Be concerned. Get informed. Take action. Search Education Under Fire.

Apr 1, 2012 - Sir Robinson has a good sense of humor!

FlamencoPupil Says:

Apr 15, 2012 - His ideas are brilliant, but I'm afraid they are only going to work in a economically and culturally developed countries. When you are born in a country like I am with 33% of unemployment ,300.000 poor people (out of 2 million) and ethnic tensions(that can cause war anytime) pursing your dream is really insane.People really work what they have no interest in ,but it gives them a living. Anyway I think the British Government should really take Sir.Robinson's opinion when they make reforms

Cortorize Says:

Apr 16, 2012 - IF we do crap in our exams we are screwed for life because we are not interested in forced education. There's are rights screwed.

jose2090 Says:

Apr 24, 2012 - nothing brought me here. I knew about Sir Ken Robinson and decided to look for lectures of him in YouTube, as simply as that.

drzonlyjonas323 Says:

Apr 25, 2012 - His ideas are phenomenal! But my only question is: how are we going to reverse our already broken school system? This going to take years.

Vanillafaerie Says:

Apr 26, 2012 - Home Education .....

ritchloui Says:

Apr 29, 2012 - You wondered about the school system; check out The Kahn Academy and its meteoric rise in popularity across the globe, including schools.

bloodynoise666 Says:

Apr 29, 2012 - Home education is not the solution. It is necessary to improve public education so that every kid,and not only those who are fortunate enough to be taught at home, can succesfully compete in the laboral market. Not to mention that even if the education that the kid receives is not the best, school is still one of the most important environments for subjective constitution.

threedogful Says:

Apr 30, 2012 - So how exactly a true education that makes people think independently helps the elite that controls everything including education?

kodomotachi1 Says:

May 3, 2012 - Actually, there is something called 'La Educación Prohibida' - a project about education and its alternatives, problems... It originated in Latin America (not exactly 'first world'), and I highly recommend you check it out - their video is in Spanish with subtitles.

May 15, 2012 - What is the perfect education?

kelvinoalbino Says:

May 22, 2012 - This is so true. I enjoyed and used to sketch a lot as a kid. As I progressed through school, it was a recurring theme that logical skills were dominant and I slowly lost my artistic side. The thing I loved and did well was thrown in the bin. What am I doing now? A computer degree that I'm struggling with.

tija1012 Says:

May 24, 2012 - Same with me. I didn't know what was wrong with me. My artistic side totally left me. I want it back :[
