May 21, 2012 - Of course, the song is about sex, BUT did he score. I concede the double meaning of wood, but maybe the fire was all the wood he got. If we examine a few of the lyrics it leaves doubt, and many a ardent lover has sometimes been frustrated by a girl's resolve to not have sex in the first meeting. In the line "I once had a girl, or should I say she once had me?" I think it hints that he had an event with a girl, but she maybe had him in the sense of a playing a joke on him."

Talking til late yes, but that would seem to be more an indication that he wasn't getting anywhere and eventually had to sleep in the bath ALONE. "This bird had flown" also indicates she got away leaving him to think about what could have been maybe. Lyrics and actions NOW are more direct. When this was written a lot of girls didn't give right away. Maybe that is why she laughed.??

The reason he had to sleep in the bath is her living accommodations simply did not include sharing a life with a man on long term basis, not even long enough to have a chair for her visitors.
