Apr 20, 2012 - Broken Arrow? Neil Young

SarahSapphira Says:

Apr 20, 2012 - God got tired of the Yankee drummer in Heaven's band, so he called a good ol Southern boy home. He could not have picked a better one. We'll see you soon, Levon. Keep it rockin' until we get there.

whatsheavy Says:

Apr 20, 2012 - yes. Broken Arrow is Robbie's song

whatsheavy Says:

Apr 20, 2012 - Different Broken Arrow. Neil also wrote a song by that name with Buffalo Springfield I believe

Apr 21, 2012 - Levon Helm - the greatest rock n roll performer ever

socrates1818 Says:

Apr 21, 2012 - Yeah but it goes deeper than that - Robbie could have agreed to the others getting a reasonable percentage of the writing royaties, of which we all probably think they were more than worthy of. That's the subtler point I think Levon made. And that would have been fair why in this case? Because this band really put a high premium on the orchestration, and preoproduction, much more so than many bands who do have a songwriter and the others essentially backing him, etc...

levinity Says:

Apr 21, 2012 - I don't know what it means to travel the country, singing, playing in big shows, night after night, but in this particular video the band and the great Levon look and sound tired and wanting to get this one over with. The music is well practiced but passionless. A factor also has to be that they'd probably done this song a thousand times at that point.

mborquaye Says:

Apr 22, 2012 - Great, love that song but never knew that he was from the Band. I remember my husband and I saw Levon and the Band back in the 70s and we were knocked out by how good the group was- he will be missed.

mborquaye Says:

Apr 22, 2012 - Some one just confirmed that he sung it- don't know whether or not he wrote it.

unionguy36 Says:

Apr 22, 2012 - This is the best live rendition of "The Weight" I've ever seen or heard. What a great band they were, and now only two of them -- Robbie and Garth -- survive. And for those who don't know, Robbie Robertson wrote this song.

alphadesignerone Says:

Apr 23, 2012 - I'm doin' my grievin' today for Levon. He and his music have been a part of my life for almost 50 years....It's a big loss. RIP Levon Helm. You gave your gifts above all else. You chose to keep giving, rather than be assured of beating the cancer. I love and appreciate you for your great heart and strong spirit! Peace on your journey.

May 12, 2012 - Great sound and excellent video. I can hardly believe it's that old, but I know it is because of the hair and the clothes. Love it! Always had the biggest crush on Levon Helm.

MrManus64 Says:

May 23, 2012 - too fast played imo, it kills the groove

TheConvair58 Says:

May 23, 2012 - awesome song, great voice, bring back good memories

1dkrice Says:

May 27, 2012 - More than a little debatable. Many of the Band's songs particularly the songs on Big Pink and the Band were pretty communal in terms of writing. Robbie Robertson wrote some great lyrics, but But Levon, Rick and Richard certainly chipped in quite a bit. And as far as the music itself goes, you can't overstate the influence of Garth Hudson and sadly he is all but overlooked. Most evidence that I've seen points to Robbie Robertson essentially destroying the Band.
