Mar 11, 2012 - is this the saddest song ever written?Roger Waters knows how to cut you. such a powerfull song writer.
TheFubbick Says:
Mar 15, 2012 - Sad, sure, but I think Cancer by My Chemical Romance is more sad than this. Definately not a better song than this, but more sad.
trouzerpants Says:
Mar 16, 2012 - If you wanna hear real sadness, pessimism and heartache, checkout Waters' "The Final Cut.."I believe it's a tribute to his father, killed during WWII.
NebulaExtract Says:
Mar 19, 2012 - I'm not sure Fubbick, I think this song is more sad.
Swigzabrewski Says:
Mar 20, 2012 - @greg55666...No, you missed the rest of the argument between (TenHanger) and I. Earlier on the comment board he had mentioned that Eric Waters (Roger Waters') father, had died in vain for participating in World War II and that no war was ever worth justifying. As you see from my comment that you commented on, I did not agree...

Mar 21, 2012 - No. THIS song is about his father (not Bring The Boys Back Home, they stuck that together with this song for some reason even though they are two separate songs) not The Final Cut. But that's one of my favourites.
trouzerpants Says:
Mar 21, 2012 - The point I was trying to make is "The Final Cut" is more of a critique of war itself, written around the time of the Falklands war. Waters criticised the very nature of warfare whilst lamenting the loss of his father, killed during WWII. It's obviously a very angry, bitter, personal album; many songs have an almost nihilistic feel, possibly reflecting Waters' current disposition. Rick Wright had already been kicked out whilst Waters' relationship with Gilmore was at breaking point.
TheFubbick Says:
Mar 24, 2012 - Yes, I know. I thought you meant the actual song The Final Cut, not the whole album.

Mar 26, 2012 - i love the military beat on this track it sounds a bit like a child holding back tears
spitfirexxi Says:
Apr 3, 2012 - Floyd--- How we wish they were here for a Time, Us and them, Marooned, confortably numb... Learning to fly, for the Final Cut, listening to Echoes of Mother ringing a Division Bell with High Hopes to set the controls to the heart of the sun... saying Hey You.. have a cigar and welcome to the machine.

trouzerpants Says:
Feb 22, 2012 - No, the T-34 was the best mass-produced tank. The best MBT was the German Tiger, so superbly engineered, it could not be mass produced.
