Jan 22, 2008 - I guess being born and raised in Ireland doesn't suffice these days.

thepoemlady Says:

Feb 3, 2008 - I often think of first world war soldiers who came back mute from the war, having seen so much horror they literally could not speak. If they became psychiatric patients, the psychiatrists in those days would administer electric shocks to the tongue and eventually they would speak - to say "STOP!!"

shayeagain Says:

Feb 5, 2008 - I appreciate the spittle, but I think I like the Julianne Moore performance better - her delivery is more metrical. In any case, this is wonderful.

Augusto210 Says:

Feb 7, 2008 - Where did you see it??? I can't buy the dvd, Its nowhere to be found in my country. Please tell me there's a place on the internet where you saw it.

thepoemlady Says:

Feb 8, 2008 - You can get the Julianne Moore version of Not I on eBay in a collection called Beckett on Film - superb collection of 19 of Beckett's stage plays directed and acted by the best of the best!

Feb 21, 2008 - its supposed 2 b fast...its not reli abou the words...mostly the image. but it is quite hard 2 understand

yargenfreeman Says:

Mar 5, 2008 - It attacks conventional sign systems - our perceived way of finding 'meaning'. It relates to his views on existentialism, in an albeit paradoxical way. If you don't understand it, don't comment on it. Especially if you're not sure on his name!

randomness15 Says:

Mar 6, 2008 - yeah, we have to do this for performance evening, thankfully it's split into four parts, that would be difficult to do.we had to figure out the meaning behind it aswell, even if you don't understand, and even if you don't like it, you can appreciate how difficult it is to learn those lines and deliver them with expression and over articulation. I think she did a fantastic job!

thepoemlady Says:

Mar 7, 2008 - It all depends on whether you are able to appreciate symbols. If you only like realism then Beckett (Samuel that is) will not be for you. I guess symbols are outside your comfort zone.

avazd Says:

Apr 10, 2008 - This version is the original actress, Billie Whitelaw. Beckett wrote several pieces for her.

sidecar9000 Says:

Apr 12, 2008 - without worth for too much worth

Bomdigus Says:

Apr 13, 2008 - hi.i need this video¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡

timetothinkdeep Says:

Apr 18, 2008 - I'm very new to this stuff, but I would say that it is definitely what Beckett would have wanted for this peice. For those of you who are saying "he only wrote this to confuse" you are stupid. He wrote it so you would think. So you would create your own story and interpretation. This, to me, is the magic of absurdism. One must construct the story yourself under the conditions of the dialogue, and what you see. Different. I love it.

swagerroot Says:

Apr 21, 2008 - Sounds like Su Pollard!

hillbillyprofane Says:

Apr 22, 2008 - I adore this. It's something that you can see over and over and pick up something new every time.

Augusto210 Says:

Apr 25, 2008 - I want to see Julianne Moore's version. Anyone knows where can I see it??I know you all love this, and I do to, but I'm just curious.

andres270686 Says:

May 21, 2008 - stfu, seriously

blacksheep02 Says:

Aug 31, 2008 - Exactly. I agree with you when you say there was never any intention to confuse or misinform. However, I don't think the purpose of the work was intended to be so malleable as you seem to believe. Beckett, of all playwrights, was very particular in how his works were to be preformed. That could only suggest that, to him, the "meaning" of the work was very specific too.

poppadomski Says:

Feb 18, 2009 - Don't bother with the Julianne Moore version, it's crap.Beckett was involved in the direction of this performance, I seem to recall, and Billie Whitelaw was definitely his favourite actress. She performed it live shut in a box, and suffered physically afterwards from the sheer effort. This is the business, no doubt about that.

afterhours23 Says:

Apr 1, 2009 - freaky

villiparis Says:

Apr 26, 2009 - pretty scary, like it

rezeski Says:

Jul 19, 2009 - Check it out from a good library. ... or, buy the complete set of Beckett plays on film (DVD): *Beckett on Film* i have it. if you are a beckett fan, you'll love this set. 19 plays on 4 DVDs.

rensw Says:

Mar 28, 2010 - Beckett actually said that he wasn't concerned with the work being unintelligable. He's trying to earn some investment from the audience emotionally. Although I don't think the intention was to confuse as such, the fast pace and loss of words are not elements that detract rather they enhance the overall feel of the performance. I love it.

newbarad Says:

Mar 30, 2010 - piece of shit
