Even if ppl spend time on facebook and dealing with emails during work hours, their productivity is probably a lot more than 20 years ago, when they had to type letters in typing machines (a lot slower) and send ALL correspondance by traditional mail. Also for people who do research, now they can access all the information a lot faster and so stats in split seconds, as opposed to old methods. Thus, all this makes productivity of humans a lot faster.
