gorillazhead Says:
Jan 24, 2012 - Man, I really thought pre 70's movies were really tame, but this still scares the hell outta me.
rippedlampshade Says:
Jan 27, 2012 - When i heard about Vincent Price's head on a fly about to get eaten by a spider i thought it would be hilarious, but fuck me, this is some gruesome shit.

Jan 30, 2012 - Very funny! I agree with those that have said older films with out cgi have more substance than many modern cgi remakes that are not a patch on the originals! Cgi is spoiling cinema!
NICKREAPER316 Says:
Feb 2, 2012 - Amen to that, brother.

Feb 3, 2012 - for a 1950's movie this is still pretty damn scary and fucked up
pinkbutterflygrrl227 Says:
Feb 7, 2012 - I couldnt let that happen even if he was better off dead. I wouldnt let him be killed by a spider. I would have killed the spider.I heard vincet price had to look straight ahead instead of at the fly cuz he kept laughing so much.
miamimann1 Says:
Feb 10, 2012 - The original was like the short story.....When i met Cronenberg at the screening of his version he said he did not want to copy the original.I like both ....in there own way.
roguetrooper96 Says:
Feb 21, 2012 - I think the reason this is so creepy is because of the massive full screen spider close-up, definitely fucks with us arachnophobes.
94mrtommy Says:
Feb 26, 2012 - This is creepy as hell the first time I watched this it was midnight in a dark room
Gahlahad431 Says:
Feb 26, 2012 - See thats why for such an old movie it is so creepy that we ignore mother nature and its dealing...
KentuckyRebel11 Says:
Mar 3, 2012 - Tell me about it. People REALLY need to take off the nostalgia goggles. The past had plenty of awful shows and movies, and the present has plenty of good shows and movies. People need to stop living in the past.
KentuckyRebel11 Says:
Mar 3, 2012 - No, the remake was FAR superior to this. This is goofy.
crazyboijihad Says:
Mar 16, 2012 - its like they watch him scream for help for a minute while the spider is slowly kreepin up to him, they wait till spider bites off head then they wack it with a rock,

Mar 20, 2012 - I saw the ending when I was like 3. Freaked me the hell out!
kiwipreacher Says:
Mar 22, 2012 - Each to their own.
dkupke Says:
Mar 23, 2012 - The main thing for me is that sci-fi/horror films rely so much on visual effects today, while in a film like this the relied much more on what was implied, which made what you eventually saw that much more shocking. Nothing beats some good old fashioned psychological tension. I'm a big fan of the original SAW for that very reason.
dkupke Says:
Mar 23, 2012 - As the story goes they had to retake this scene over a dozen times because every time Vincent Price heard that "help me" voice he started laughing. The giant spider prop actually got re-used in numerous films, including "The Incredible Shrinking Man" if my memory serves me right.
