May 21, 2012 - How is Jarlix analyzing the worst in the film? I thought those scenes were great. Are you trying to say that if the movie has some anti-Christian messages that it makes those parts awful? If so, I feel sorry that you can't appreciate a great many works of art.

Kira1Lawliet Says:

May 21, 2012 - guess what? People like me, the believers in light and goodness, are the last remaining bastion of hope in this world of pain, misery, and despair. So, if you want to darken things up, I'd be all too happy to oblige you! So why don't you and the people like you take a batch of kitchen knives, gouge out your dark-blinded eyes, and shove them up your FUCKING ASS, AND THEN USE YOUR DIGESTIVE SYSTEM AS A CONDOM WHEN THE REST OF YOUR PEOPLE RAPE YOU IN THE FUCKING SKULL! IS THAT DARK ENOUGH FOR YOU?!

Kira1Lawliet Says:

May 21, 2012 - Trust me, I appreciate beauty more than anyone else I know. I thrive on the sunshine of this world and things like this. I just can't stand it when people have to bring propaganda or anti Christian messages into something to make it sound worse. I can't stand that. Why can't people just leave beauty and art as they are instead of trying to pick it apart piece by piece until you see the underlying feint darkness.

MrJarlix Says:

May 21, 2012 - Just coming in to look at how forgiving and loving Christians can be - oh, oh yeah. Your book's sold millions. Ps the millions are dead, they bought death in steel and gunpowder. Faith was the book store. Your attitude would be something supported by shameless murder in god's name, in old times. You are cattle. Your sins aren't jesus', the film was made with hard work by *people,* and that violent attitude isn't the devil tempting you. It's yours. This is your weakness.

MrJarlix Says:

May 21, 2012 - You're an awful person. I'm not looking at you as an atheist or a Christian. I'm Jarlix, an individual. And I think you're being horrible to me while touting a fictitious novel as fact. Not just that, one which tells you to love others! Do you not see what your faith is? It's an excuse to be an asshole. Always was. And Kells has just as much evidence for religious faith as it does against it. 'Faith wears the storm' is it's overall message, it strengthens this by unearthing the bullshit too.

Kira1Lawliet Says:

May 21, 2012 - Finally, someone willing to not blame the devil for everything! At least you're taking a step forward.I'm never violent, other than the rare occasion when someone tries to corrupt the things I love, the things that keep me going in this world. I am not a bad person, I am not an angry person either. But everyone has their breaking point, and buddy, you're pushing mine. I am Christian. I believe in God, as well as the efforts of people. I just don't believe in what people say about God.

MrJarlix Says:

May 21, 2012 - He loses his friend, the book does not save his homeland, but nonetheless it was a pursuit he was possessed by. It's easy to see negative aspects in this, but equally easy to see wonder and delight. You are a fool if I think I'm as single minded as you. He makes it into his latter years thoroughly content, alive with the book, and finds comfort on his father's deathbed in it's magnificence. It's what faith does in the real world. HAHA 66 CHARACTERS REMAINING OH MAN-

MrJarlix Says:

May 21, 2012 - Faith kills. It gets people angry (HINT!! HINT!! wink nudge..), it saves, it drives, it helps you through life, it can make you lose friends, it takes effort. It gives purpose. It has negative and positive aspects, many of which are explored. That's why Secret of Kells is wonderful. It's a neutral, unadorned portrayal of faith.

Kira1Lawliet Says:

May 21, 2012 - My faith is that God is not one being, but rather the light inside every human being's soul, sided with the darkness in the very same soul. I believe people must embrace both sides, but try to embrace the light side more. I have embraced the darkness right now, as I very rarely do. But I can't stand people who ruin the sheer beauty of something like this, or who preach down to others. You have done both. This is what happens.

shadetail Says:

May 21, 2012 - Would everyone you know agree that you appreciate beauty more than them? Humble yourself.Anti-Christian messages don't make things worse. For some people they can even cause a great sense of relief. The fact that there are some in this movie, though subtle, doesn't make it worse. If anything I think those messages also promote a greater message of tolerance, beauty, spirituality and harmony between nature and the people within it.

Kira1Lawliet Says:

May 21, 2012 - Possibly.BTW, I've been humbled my whole life. The only thing going for me is my decent intelligence and my ability to write. I suck in every other aspect of myself. I never got up on a soapbox until now.

MrJarlix Says:

May 21, 2012 - s'chill brahI'm pretty good at everything, myself.

Kira1Lawliet Says:

May 21, 2012 - Exactly. Faith is a tricky business, and ironically, Catholicism is not the best representative for the positive aspects of it. Throughout a thousand years, it has been the cause of torture, suffering, lies, bigotry, hatred, and control. I have no problem associating the beauty of this movie with faith, but don't bring Catholic Christianity into it, even though that's what the Book of Kells represents. In fact, that's the only thing I'm trying to forget about this movie.

MrJarlix Says:

May 21, 2012 - Aren't they all jewish fanfiction?

Kira1Lawliet Says:

May 21, 2012 - I'm.....not at all sure how to respond to that. I can't tell whether you're insulting me, arguing with me, or what.

shadetail Says:

May 21, 2012 - o_o; ... well, I can definitely see why the subtle messages that MrJarlix mentioned went over your head now.

MrJarlix Says:

May 21, 2012 - You're just trying to rationalize your insanity and bad temper and the fact you're a socially awkward prick. You'll be a virgin for life. You're nuts. You bastardize, reinvent your farce of a religion only as much as you need to in order to excuse yourself for snapping at someone. And every Christian does this near enough.

MrJarlix Says:

May 21, 2012 - oh ok you're an idiot I forgot, I'll state why I said thatA. 'hurdur embrace darkness' justifies you being an assholeB. 'hurdur embrace darkness' isn't something the bible impliesC. you are nonetheless making it an extension of your christian faithnow replace thisA. 'hurdur torture heretics for the crusades' justifies you being an assholeB. 'hurdur torture heretics for the crusades' isn't something the bible impliesC. you are nonetheless making it an extension of your christian faith

Kira1Lawliet Says:

May 21, 2012 - Uh, duh. Don't you think I know that? Why else would I be so overprotective of the beauty of movies like this and Disney and the like. It's the only thing I have. I know I have a bad temper, I know I'm socially awkward. You're right about all that stuff (other than the fact that I am quite sane). I don't deny any of it. I have come to peace with it, and though I desperately try to raise myself above my many many weaknesses, but something always ends up pulling me right back in.

Kira1Lawliet Says:

May 21, 2012 - As I recall, the way this started was: you made a remark about anti Christianity in this movie, then I call out the fault in that, than you insult my interests and my favorite shows and such and call me an immature idiot. As I recall, I may have taken a step too far, but you're the one who started all this. Unprovoked, I might add.

MrJarlix Says:

May 21, 2012 - Think more. About what you say before you type it. And observe the world more keenly. You're wearing your faith on your sleeve in a way that's socially awkward and not really showing yourself to be as humble as you're saying.

Kira1Lawliet Says:

May 22, 2012 - *laughs* I just realized two things. One: You're the asshole in this argument, not me. You're the one who started insulting me and my interests, provoked only from a simple flaw point-out in your argument. Second: This is YouTube. I don't have to put up with your crap. I can turn you off like that. *snaps fingers* So long!

MrJarlix Says:

May 22, 2012 - You called me an asshole when I was being nice. You told me to get raped in graphic detail. I never did anything on that scale. I never insulted you like that first.

MrJarlix Says:

May 22, 2012 - falcon punch
