Description:
For Robben Fords enthusiastic Paris fans, this New Morning concert in July, 2009 captures their icons genius in a truly unprecedented manner. Backed brilliantly by Athens-born drummer Toss Panos, who brings a Mediterranean flavor to the trio and by bassist Travis Carlton, Robbens unique style (a tasteful blend of strength and finesse) asserts itself impressively above and beyond his rock, jazz, fusion & blues influences. This DVD, recorded in HighDefinition, also features two onus tracks with the legendary Larry Coryell joining the Robben Ford Trio on stage: A truly unique feature!

Feb 16, 2012 - I know the story of that guitar but I prefer him on the tele or his old gibsons. This one has a kinda scooped quality that to me takes some of the trademark singing out of his tone. It gets too beefy and high-endy in a slightly loose twangy way that somehow steals away the tension a bit.Just personal taste of course - I know he's jazzed about it.

dacrowster Says:

Feb 17, 2012 - Damn this freakin awesome !

ITACwainwright Says:

Feb 20, 2012 - Crazy aint it!. Robben Ford is way to good!

FirstPube Says:

jazzlefty Says:

Mar 17, 2012 - hey men we know you love dumble and we do to , but he is not sounding cheap!! cmon ,that fender red knobs is what he usually when out of town, so his choise has some value , dont you think!!?

dumbletone Says:

Mar 18, 2012 - Yes but when Robben really has the choice, he always plays his Dumble... Let's watch the "Peace on my my mind" tune on youtube (from the Rockpalast concert) and i'm sure you will see what i mean ;-)) Cheers

bLAStSuCaRTa Says:

Mar 20, 2012 - yes you can learn this tune by watching and listening to Robben. This wasnt available to anyone on this scale 10 years ago. tabs scmabs....

gman8thst1 Says:

Mar 21, 2012 - Sounds great no matter what he's playing...it's just in him.

gman8thst1 Says:

Mar 21, 2012 - Man I've just heard the audio of this before today and I didn't know what amp he was using...still sounds great though! But I've seen and checked out his Dumble so I know what you mean.

FabioGrOoVe91 Says:

Mar 24, 2012 - anybody knows what guitar is he playing?

willguitar83 Says:

Mar 27, 2012 - I think it's a guitar from the company Reverend Guitars

midrider335 Says:

Mar 27, 2012 - Actually that guitar is a Les Paul copy made by a Japanese luthier for Robben. If you go to Robben's site it's listed there. Yep- still Robben & it always sounds great! I've seen him with various guitars thru the years and it's amazing how always gets the same tone no matter what he plays!

Fugettaboutit Says:

Mar 28, 2012 - Whole band sounds great...even with a not-so-great mix, the musicianship always comes through. Ford's tone is a bit on the rough side...may have a lot to do with whatever amps they got him for this, certainly not as clear but his Dumble setup but his playing is still great.

swampoverdrive Says:

Mar 29, 2012 - This is Robben Ford...U may go out and spent big cash for a dumble clone (or a dumble) to sound like him but u wont. On the other hand he will sound exactly the same (if not better) playing through a 65 deluxe reverb, a decent boutique drive and a stock les paul...

atxgtr10 Says:

Apr 4, 2012 - I agree with you swampoverdrive. I've heard Robben sound pretty thin and blah on his Dumbles before and absolutely amazing with a pedal in front of a blackface Fender amp. There's no arguing though that his fundamental tone comes from his style, technique, hands, ears etc... He may prefer to play his Dumble rigs (who wouldn't right?) but honestly, the part of his tone that most people really dig remains intact regardless of the guitar/pedal/amp/speaker/mic/PA/engineer.

narvul Says:

Apr 4, 2012 - No, you're getting off on Dumble.... that's weird. Instead of appreciating his great playing you can't stop whining about about some magical gig, just because he played a Dumble there. He has great tone, style and timing. That's just him and his guitar. The amp only makes it louder.

dumbletone Says:

Apr 4, 2012 - In the first place, i just said that the DVD of the Rockpalast concert would have been better than this one, because Robben is better on that other one, and because Robben and the all band has a much better sound too. Sound is important to me and don't forget that it's part of the Robben success.. The problem is that the New Morning (i saw Robben two times before in that place) is a small club where you can't play loud so everything sounds "small" and "muffled" and i don't like that, that's all.

okamasphere Says:

Apr 5, 2012 - nice playing, but lol at old men with skinny pants

Fugettaboutit Says:

Apr 6, 2012 - I don't anyone's doubting that it all comes from him, but listen to some of his vids with Carlton, and some of the older in-studio ones. Granted, this is a small stage, though.

Atsushikimkim Says:

Apr 8, 2012 - Sakashta guitars, I think Sakashta is a Japanese guitar designer.

cliffbogen Says:

Apr 26, 2012 - Robben smooth and slick as always. Toss Panos one of the more "musical" drummers out there. I think Travis left the group and was replaced w/ Andy Hess of Gov't Mule fame.

johnnylance Says:

Apr 29, 2012 - Just Love Robben@!! Panos is playing a very Elvin Jones style here, which I love also.Reminds me a lot of Mitch Mitchell's drumming. Great sound all around.

rawdonwaller Says:

May 25, 2012 - How I love listening to Toss Panos' playing. And RF wearing glasses?

rawdonwaller Says:

May 25, 2012 - I reckon RF can pull it off: he's a stylish guy.
