Apr 15, 2012 - Hi there(: I have a question about running on a treadmill vs. outside. When I run on a treadmill, I usually warm up first by walking at 3, 3.5 and 4 mph, each for 1 minute (so a total of 3 minutes). Then, I run at 4.5, 5, 5.5, 6 & 6.5 mph each for 1 minute (so a total of 5 minutes), and then I run at 7 mph for 30-35 minutes. When I cool down, I do the same thing as my warm up, but reversed. My question is, when you run outside, is it necessary to try to mimic this warmup and cool down or not?
