May 14, 2012 - No totalitarian regime cares about its own people. I read a book of Hitler's private conversations and it really surprised me how much he despised his own people. They were just a species who had to be told how to live, who to marry, what to study, how many children to have (at least 4 per family). Hitler also wanted Germany to fight a war at least every 15 years. Destruction of the so-called weak (also within his own nation) was good. Hitler was very evil.Yet next to Stalin he was a sweetheart.

There were not very many old men during the Soviet occupation and many people looked old and tired.I remember that my grandmother who died at the age of 65 looked at least 20 years older when she died.Then again she had a lot of compulsory 'voluntary visits to the KGB'.She looked grey after those visits but never complained, just died.
