winniesugar Says:

Nov 23, 2011 - we are always complaining about how unfair the GOVermnt is, even MPs who should know better.. the days for kitu kidogo to get approvals are gone. i feel nothing for those who keep breaking the law and think money can buy everything

winniesugar Says:

Nov 23, 2011 - kenyans like things done like this, bulldoze them, if you simply talk they think it will pass or someone will be bought

mcmagicx Says:

Nov 23, 2011 - Very simple logic and still FAIL! We can't even run a jungle leave alone a country.

mcmagicx Says:

Nov 23, 2011 - I've been saying it for a while now.Even the colonialists would not go this far,we need an uprising.

mcmagicx Says:

Nov 23, 2011 - So if you rent a house,do you ask wether the land was grabbed or not? What does blaming a rich landlord bring to a poor Kenyan? This is KENYA get it?

mcmagicx Says:

Nov 23, 2011 - I hope you realize that these are people with jobs in the city and just happened to rent a house like any other citizen.Could you pls give me a list of grabbed land in Kenya?NO.That doesn't make you any better, this could very much happen to you as well so don't support oppression of the poor.It is the govt.s job and not their own to make sure land is legitimate. They did their part as citizens by paying the rent, period!GOK just failed them once again.

walexia Says:

Nov 23, 2011 - IT IS, the governements job to ensure that the people in a condemned building are given adequate AND timely notice! of a demolition. Those people can actually go to court to sue , no ONLY the landlords but the kenya govt itself!!!.I am so glad my cousins are lawyers, because Kenyan rights have been trampled on for far too long.we need to see more legal action including class action lawsuits.Let us come together and show this govenment who elected who!!

ombuyaro Says:

Nov 23, 2011 - We want Moi back "kanu juu" this is really bullshit kenya gov doing this to citizen of kenyans. Guys you remember what moi said we will remember him...... people use to complain kitu kidogo now see whats going on house are demolition...

M45Sebring Says:

Nov 23, 2011 - In the U.S, they having shopping strips right next to a major afb (airforce base). I park my car right next to the fence sometimes, and watch the f16s take off.

tamaduni Says:

Nov 23, 2011 - AFRICANS OMG-----WE WERE BETTER OFF WITH BABA WA TAIFA

wholelover Says:

Nov 23, 2011 - This is exactly why I will never ever go back to Kenya, not even to visit. These people's lives have been risked, for what? Pieces of land? I'll never go back!

nyanjoma Says:

Nov 23, 2011 - THATS NOT RIGHT

brucencalifornia Says:

Nov 23, 2011 - making a place for the new "Nuke Power" plantsNuclear power is the use of sustained nuclear fission, go for it

moyale2004 Says:

Nov 23, 2011 - very soon u... see other building in same place

ruffcast Says:

Nov 23, 2011 - surely there are better ways of getting people out of illegal places.. I am seeing a govt running very scared of terrorists.... Al shabab militias must be laughing so hard wherever they are...., they haven't dropped a bomb , but buildings are coming down already

magellanmax Says:

Nov 23, 2011 - For starters, there's an article on the daily Nation website that quotes some of the residents who acknowledged the fact that they had been given notice long before the demolition. They chose to stay because they didn't believe the government would go through with the demolition. The 'shags' comment was obviously harsh, but they could have saved their rent money and moved elsewhere. P.S A plane being hijacked and flown into a building is not the same as one shot from a ground weapon.

mrdennisonsarigo Says:

Nov 23, 2011 - how can the government be so insensitive to people's needs?,,,,,,you just explain this attitude of a government that only seeks to clear areas for road expansion and in the process expanding the human population without housing

magellanmax Says:

Nov 23, 2011 - I never said I was better than them, that's your assumption. Those residents knew of the impending demolition but chose to stay. There's a block next to the demolished ones that houses police officers earmarked for demolition. Is that oppression too? Consolidate all land allocation to one ministry and most problems will solved. Kenya's govt is seriously corrupt. I would be happy if they started jailing them all. But lets be real, you think justice is served equally across the board?

surambaya Says:

Nov 23, 2011 - - You are right - my comment was off-hand mainly because I did not fully understand the context of what you were saying. It seems to me that the tenants took the got warning rather too casually and paid the ultimate price for it. From a military perspective, as long as the target is not in motion, it's a sitting duck and even a child could finagle a lucky shot. As with 9/11, the govt does not have a clue about the vulnerabilities at range and they will be surprised.

njerirose24 Says:

Nov 23, 2011 - The government is right now, but made mistakes in Moi's time. I remember in 1990's anybody connected and 'good' in the system was just fencing any free space for free, puts up storreys and collects money. They didn't care about the laws like 30m perimeter around lakes, parks, airports etc. Now that the New Kibaki-Raila government is working, we blame the government. The worst is that our land grabbers took advantage to exploit poor people. Let these buildings go so that Nairobi can be clean.

smithlovekenya Says:

Nov 23, 2011 - EVEN AS THE GOVERNMENT BRING THESE BUILDINGS DOWN, WHETHER LEGALLY OR ILLIGALLY THEY MUST SAFE GUARD THE LIVES OF THOSE IN THEM. THEY NEED A LOUND SPEAKER ATLEAST TO TELL PEOPLE THAT THE Y HAVE X AMOUNT OF TIME TO MOVE. SET A TIME A DATE AND MAKE SURE THE RESIDENTS KNOWS. DON'T FIGHT YOUR PEOPLE THEY WILL RESENT THE GOVERNMENT,

THISIS4REALTHO Says:

Nov 26, 2011 - NjeriRose you are very right. All these land owners acquired land 'genuinly' during the Moi era.

metrohast Says:

Nov 28, 2011 - This is insane. I love my beloved country but I am not going to invest there. Some Kenyans kill , rape in support of politician, this is how politicians pay their supporters. We always elect tycoons who reside in Muthaiga,Runda, Karen .
