Frank De Maio Says:

May 9, 2012 - Elmore James...Duanne Allman and Johnny Winter simply the best slide guitar players ever.

MrSluggo666 Says:

May 10, 2012 - Lowell George, Mick Taylor, Ry Cooder and George Harrison also played beautiful slide.

May 10, 2012 - one way out the opening bass line and BACH should be heard together it moves with the brandenburg concerto flawless and the slide of john lee hooker

MrRoxoff Says:

May 11, 2012 - a word from a German player on DB and DA:Imho THE "magic couple": Dickey is one GREAT guitarman, albeit ALWAYS carrying the song - like having his feet on the ground - firmly.Duane, on the other hand, is the one who steps out - sorta "head in the clouds", imho.Let's thank the Lord for some of the greatest guitar-music that will ever be!

Bloefeld2002 Says:

May 17, 2012 - Good slide players indeed. However none could keep perfect pitch everywhere on the fretboard like Duane, he is indeed the best ever. Now one has to say that Derek Trucks has picked up the baton and moved the art forward.

MrSluggo666 Says:

May 17, 2012 - lol none could keep perfect pitch ? Neither could Allman if you have ever listened to Layla, besides no real musician wants perfect pitch ! you not on ly have a tin ear you don't have a clue !!

Bloefeld2002 Says:

May 17, 2012 - I'm a concert master with a major symphony, don't tell me I have no clue about perfect pitch and every musician should be able to play on pitch. So that's the credential. However I agree, it is not always desirable to play in pitch, but you are clueless if you believe that Duane Allman could not and most did stay in near perfect pitch. His limitations on Layla were more related to who he was playing with than his ability.Duane and Dicky were great together they had all of it in their bones.

MrSluggo666 Says:

May 17, 2012 - really? please tell me what symphony and I will avoid at all costs ! any( smirk! )concertmaster that cannot see how horrible it would be to have perfect pitch while the vast majority if not all around you don't , isn't worth waving a baton, plus if you were what you say what the hell does that have to do with rock, blues, or jazz for that matter? nothing! your previous statement shows what an ignoramus you must be!

MrSluggo666 Says:

May 17, 2012 - Yeah sure, the north east of what the planet? oboe is sometimes used in jazz, as a substitute for soprano sax. perfect pitch is not required to play it! hence the expression, oboe, the ill wind nobody blows good ! your name really should be blowhard eh maestro? north east lol

MrSluggo666 Says:

May 17, 2012 - btw maestro the term you were struggling to find is not perfect pitch, it's " intonation" not the same thing concert master, lol

Bloefeld2002 Says:

May 17, 2012 - Related but different. Read up on the differences.

MrSluggo666 Says:

May 17, 2012 - You are the idiot that can't tell one from the other maestro lol

jsilence418 Says:

May 17, 2012 - You do not seem to know what you are talking about, perfect pitch is not required to play an instrument in tune. it has already been pointed out to you the word you wanted was intonation. intonation ,good intonation is requiredf to play any instrument, but an instrument such as violin. cello etc particularly ! you do not need perfect pitch as it has been pointed out as well it is more of a hindrance .

tooclose2detroit Says:

May 18, 2012 - yup--i feel your pain, brother.

tooclose2detroit Says:

May 18, 2012 - wtf????man, you must be leavin out some important info, like you had some "sweet mellissa" beggin you to go to the back of the microbus or somethin.-no one leaves an AB concert before its over!

arklat Says:

May 18, 2012 - There is something you are leaving out of your story. Maybe your buzz was too intense, or you had a babe dragging you out for some hot nookie, or some other reason. I saw Little Feat at the Pacific Ampitheatre, and I was blazing on some purple microdot. My buzz was intense, but I stayed for the whole show. After the show, we went to the beach, Paradise Cove, to smoke some Acapulco Gold, and drink some Michelobs. No cops go there. We slept on the beach, and woke up the next morning, still buzzed.

alamolink Says:

May 22, 2012 - People down in Georgia come from near and far To hear Richard Betts pickin' on that red guitar

pablog444 Says:

May 23, 2012 - whats the name of song ?

justclassicalguitar Says:

May 23, 2012 - man , it just flowed from Duane, so smooth.

rayder409 Says:

May 23, 2012 - "Whippen' Post"

harlon57 Says:

May 24, 2012 - This is one of my favorite songs, by anyone. For those who would like to learn how to play Little Martha, I have posted the song with guitar tab, all at no cost. I prepared the song for one guitar, even though it was played by both Duane and Dickey Betts. You can find the video by searching for this title by GuitarLicksAndTabs channel: "Duane Allman - Little Martha - guitar tablature included"
