GuardianOfNonE Says:
Mar 4, 2012 - I've always been a little disappointed that Mario invited Arbiter just so he could get rid of him. The first time I watched this season through, I was eager to see how/why Mario would use Arbiter, since he seemed genuinely intrigued when he extended Arbiter the invitation. All the same, it was an effective plot twist that caught me by surprise---even if it basically prophesized the rest of the season for me.
GreenNova790 Says:
Mar 5, 2012 - Actually, I was eager to see Arbiter get his ass handed too him on a silver platter after what he did to Chief. Regardless of how MC treats Arby, I think Arbiter should've got more coming too him.
GuardianOfNonE Says:
Mar 7, 2012 - Oh, I was only speaking from a plot standpoint, not necessarily an ethical one. I just wanted a more complex, nuanced dynamic to manifest itself between Arbiter, Mario, and Mario's minions (which would maybe have lent itself to a less sedentary story). On the issue of Arbiter DESERVING the fate that was laid out for him... In his defense, he was justifiably convinced that Chief would've ditched him. All the same, I do expect Arbiter to hold himself to a higher moral standard.
GreenNova790 Says:
Mar 7, 2012 - Hmm. You make a good point. Although I don't think Chief would've ditched him. Because I know somehow that Chief would've thought that it was wrong or that he cares for Arbiter more than he thinks he does. For instance back in Walking in LA, or one of the episodes near it, he saved Arby from a dog. So it clearly shows that he would not have thrown Arby out. But, what is done, is done. Arby threw Chief out.
GuardianOfNonE Says:
Mar 7, 2012 - There's no question (according to this season's continuity) that Chief cares enough to rescue Arbiter from death, as he demonstrates when he learns of Mario's intent to murder him.But death and desertion aren't synonymous. Bear in mind: The episode after the dog incident, Chief tries---persistently---to ditch Arbiter on the street.Again, though, I'd expect Arbiter to be aware of Chief's dangerously renegade attitude. I agree that he shouldn't have isolated him in the city.
