Aug 5, 2010 - I agree there 1990-91 drawn up it was very beautiful there but it has changed everything powerful. All my youth I was there we walked around in the barracks of roof to roof in a house was an eagle symbol painted on the wall it was all empty and a huge playground. I miss the nice amis who were stationed there. I am now 27 years old and still live in the nearby barracks. I miss the very vorfeld. But it has all changed for the negantiven. streetware@gmx

Oct 1, 2010 - What an experience seeing the old Wiley. I was in C btry 1/81st there from '76-'78. I have many photos and memories, and a patch from the Ulm Rod and Gun Club in the old pow bunkers on post. If I were to go see it all today I would probably just be a teary eyed mess for a while, before I got down to the business of reconnecting with the past and a bier or zwei.

Jun 26, 2011 - I was an MP there from Feb 83 to Aug 84. Loved that town! Remember seeing our Mopeds in the Summer? Corny looking but sure beat a hot van with no AC. You may also remember the 4000 no-nukes protesters every Easter at Wiley gate. The bowling alley across from Wiley had the best Jaeger Schnitzel! I visited there in 92 and it was still a sad abandoned wreck full of immigrant squatters. Neu Ulm looked like a ghost town without the Army economy. I wonder when it turned around? Crazy now!

Sep 1, 2011 - wow, the last couple mins were very familiar. Lived there from 86 to 90. You almost drove by where I lived, it was like 2 buildings down from where you turned down the old upper O-grade housing. I remember that big hill with the sketchy slide on top of it by the old YMCA that you drove by. played coach pitch baseball behind that yellow apartment complex by the upper O-grade housing. So many memories.

Jan 4, 2012 - I was in Service Battery 79-81 and seeing the snow reminded me of the two times I did battalion sergeant of the guard on Christmas Day, first time my name got white-out in and the next year I asked for the duty so a married man would be home with his family. It was actually a good duty to have since you wasn't going anywhere and never had any trouble with the troops because they were all burned out by time I took over the duty on Christmas morning. Good memories.

Jan 29, 2012 - I was in C Battery 1st/81st from June 68 (pre-Wiley) until Jan. 71. I returned to visit the Ulm Christmas market in Dec 2007, and we had a hard time finding Wiley due to the new train tracks and train station and general expansion in New-Ulm. When we finally found it, the old buildings were all gone except for the church, EM club, and guard shack. This video looks like a lot of construction happened very shortly after my visit. My wife enjoyed Ulm better that most of our other destinations.

Mar 29, 2012 - The old Housing (around the shopette) is today's Ghetto , all were converted into City Housing (section 8 in the USA) (highest Crime rate of the city) only the officers housing were converted to condos and some of them were bought by the Deutsche Post (german postal service) for their employees and yes the old school is still a school (middle school)
