Mar 28, 2012 - You're joking right ? It's neither, he's just shaking the guitar to get that little "quiver" you get by doing exactly this, it's a guitarists trick, not any type of disease. I do it at the end of Pink Houses every time I play it, and you can hear it in the original song as well...

Mar 29, 2012 - does anybody think and or agree that The Who were one of the original Punk Rockers? Or maybe the inspiration for early punk???

Apr 3, 2012 - @JimmyConway60 Absolutely. Buddy Holly too. Pete Townshend invented the very word "power chord". Foundation of punk rock.

Apr 9, 2012 - I may sound like sacrilege but to me Face Dances is the best Who album... here they sounded strong, mature, balanced and tight, and the production was impeccable. Kenney Jones is such a solid drummer. They should have released more albums with this lineup.

Apr 24, 2012 - Hmmm...I can sort of see what you mean...they probably had absorbed some elements of punk to stay current. But when you think that the stooges were going as early as 1967, whilst the Who was going in a more hippy-ish direction, I think they were probably more representative of the punk ethos before punk emerged. The Who were mods at heart really. Whether you would consider mod a better dressed punk prototype is really a matter of opinion.

Apr 25, 2012 - Come on Rog, when have you ever looked crappy?
JimmyConway60 Says:
Apr 25, 2012 - yes..i agree about the hippy thing with the who...and i forgot about the "mod" thing..either way i still love all of their music!!
BelatedCommiseration Says:
Apr 25, 2012 - I can definitely agree with that! The Who are amazing! I know of few bands that put me in a better mood after listening to them (: Sort of worrying that Pete Townsend has a bit of a dodgy rep now but I try not to let that bother me...

Apr 26, 2012 - i recently watched "Religoulas" on Netflix and was reminded of "The Seeker"....another forgotten gem!!!
BelatedCommiseration Says:
Apr 26, 2012 - Funnily enough been watching quite a bit of Bill Maher lately...I completely forgot about the seeker song being at the start!!! How remiss! I do like the who and am familiar with a lot of their songs but theres always one or two that make me realise with a jolt they are by the who (i.e I can see for miles and pinball wizard rank amongst these). Religulous was ok but Bill Maher can come off as being a bit of a dick when he exclusively deals with religion. He's much better with politics.

Apr 28, 2012 - I knew the boys when they were called 'The Detours' and then 'The High Numbers'. I've still got a 45 r.p.m. on the Brunswick label that they signed for me on the day of release in '65 at The Ealing Club.
JimmyConway60 Says:
Apr 28, 2012 - talking about Religulous...you notice that he never really talked to any well known leaders? why didn't he talk to Joel Osteen?? TD Jakes?? any "well known" people?? just my thoughts??
BelatedCommiseration Says:
Apr 29, 2012 - It would have been interesting to watch him talking to the Phelps clan, although I think there would have been blood on the floor afterwards. Its probably because most relgious leaders know Bill Mahers platform and won't be drawn into debate with him. Probably because they know they would lose. However I did like the analogy made by the guy at Jesusland about the trinity being like water, able to mutate into different states. Even Bill Maher admitted that took the wind out of him for a bit!
