May 16, 2012 - What kind of man lies to his dog? That's awful.

InfiniteTim Says:

May 17, 2012 - I'm pretty sure it would be 'an' in this case because 'for the lack of a better word' is a parenthetical element.

InfiniteTim Says:

May 17, 2012 - When i was learning how to spell it, I would pronounce 'definitely' like 'dee-fin-ite-lee'. Silly humans and our silly brains. x)

InfiniteTim Says:

May 17, 2012 - In addition to @foreversarah7, the common phrase "I'm feeling good", should be "I'm feeling well" because 'feeling' is the verb, and 'well' is describing it. :)

MillersProductions Says:

May 17, 2012 - I love the Avett Brothers

Smashingpunkkid Says:

May 17, 2012 - If you always want to remember the difference between affect and effect just think of Edgar Allen Poe and The RAVEN:R: RememberA: AffectV: VerbE: EffectN: NounThus, affect will always be a verb and effect will always be a noun. That's how I remember it. :)

Camoceltic Says:

May 17, 2012 - Well, I don't think it is. "Don't" is the negative, while "Forget" is the action it is making negative.

ainsley1259 Says:

May 18, 2012 - nope. don't is the only negative. although it could be argued that remember to be awesome would be more succinct

Smartboy7 Says:

May 18, 2012 - I remember it by matching affect with afflict, which is a verb, while there is no "efflict". An odd way to remember it, but it works for me, though it may have to do with the fact that English is not my primary language.

pokecrazygal Says:

May 18, 2012 - ok, thanks. :) I thought forget was a negative also.

TheSage555 Says:

May 18, 2012 - So, it should be RTBA (Remember To Be Awesome). Doesn't have the same ring.

hpcrewsmith22 Says:

May 19, 2012 - I cant help but do a voice for willie in my head as john lets him in. "Wheres the treat? Wheres...the..." "So good news and bad news willie" "you...lied to me...."

lol4evergirl Says:

May 20, 2012 - You LAY down a book. You LIE down in bed. Lay is something you do to something else, lie is something your physical person does. "Go lie down." not, "Go lay down."

RocketIQ Says:

May 20, 2012 - I believe either your teacher is thoroughly stupid and spelled LIE LYE, or you should learn how to spell lie.

sc1592 Says:

May 20, 2012 - general reply to everyone who is replying to me: i know i'm an idiot! lol i understand the difference between lie and lye and lie and lay, and i made a mistake!! please forgive me in the name of trying to be awesome! :)

MrLittleDuck Says:

May 21, 2012 - I learned how to say authority off South Park. Now I can only say Authoritory and it's hard to correct myself. I've chosen to roll with it though partly due to most people understanding exactly what it means and partly it shows some history about myself.

TheEimear1603 Says:

May 21, 2012 - I have always pronounced violet like voy-let, until I said it one day at school and everyone laughed at me :(

TheConnorBear Says:

May 22, 2012 - No (I think), because forget isn't a derivative of 'no', so it isn't technically negating anything, even though it describes being in a state of not remembering.

WCOBDisorder Says:

May 23, 2012 - Also, forget is a mostly neutral word. Like forgetting misery can help us overcome it while forgetting to be awesome just isn't something people should do.

pokecrazygal Says:

May 25, 2012 - Ahh, that makes sense. :) No one should forget to be awesome

CakeBeneathTheIcing Says:

May 27, 2012 - I just found out that I've been spelling "whoa" wrong for my entire life. I thought it was "woah." I figured spell check always tried to correct it because I assumed it wasn't a real word, but a sound instead. Therefore I thought it had no actual spelling, because it was a sound not a word. >.<

CakeBeneathTheIcing Says:

May 27, 2012 - YOU GENIUS.

firemblemrules9 Says:

May 28, 2012 - This isn't exactly English, but I've always wondered if in French there is a rule to tell whether double l sounds are pronounced or not.For example, it isn't in famille, but in ville you do say the 'l's.Do you just have to know?
