May 8, 2012 - the guy that did the solo on sax during this song looks EXACTLY like the bass guitar player for the group Nirvana. If you don't believe me look up Nirvana on youtube. It is frightening how much they look alike
Yellowjjacket Says:
May 9, 2012 - It wasn't a stranger, it was here mother.:(
MultiScooter68 Says:
May 10, 2012 - I agree Sgtpepper. What is it about Christians that they think their religion is SUPERIOR to all others. There are FAR more Hindus, Buddhists, and Muslims in the world than there are Christians..
SgtPepper4140 Says:
May 11, 2012 - Cheers! yeah some of them are right muppets, tbh if you finish reading the bible and then say "That made sense! think I'll devote my life to it!" chances are your a bit of spoon. Christianity has some good ideals, it's just ruined by the mongs which think every word of is the innerrant teachings of a supernatural higher being. Creationists and fundamentalists. true there's extremists in every religion, (if i could ban one it would be islam) but.... I've never heard of an agressive buddhist :L
pianoplaylist Says:
May 12, 2012 - Oh, Karen...Oh, Karen...Karen, Karen...
Luisveram Says:
May 12, 2012 - Dear Karen : I miss you....
Contakum Says:
May 13, 2012 - In this video you still had your voice, but we can see that you're obviously hurting.....damn Karen, why didn't you believe us when we told you that we loved you no matter what you weighed ? You passed away on February 4, 1983, I'm typing this on May 13, 2012.....my heart is STILL broken - you had the most beautiful voice I've ever heard.
gwugluud Says:
May 13, 2012 - Wow, what a WHALE. They must have had to do some SERIOUS rearranging of the music gear in order for Karen to even be able to fit on that stage. She'd probably had half a dozen omelets and a bagful of Big Macs just prior to this clip.
AnitaCock Says:
May 13, 2012 - It's a shame she didn't know about the FOOD LOVERS *diet*; where u never deprive yourself of food; in fact, u can still lose weight eating junk food!
Gary Scott Fischer Says:
May 14, 2012 - You are absolutely right! I'm a male, 5' 7", I went from 151 pounds, down to 78 pounds, and I still felt too heavy. Anorexia is a real drag. You know it's got you, but you can't let go. A real dichotomy. Karen, I love your voice!!
Sorchify Says:
May 14, 2012 - Poor, poor Karen. She looks so incredibly unwell here, it is very hard to watch :'-(
s1ndydoll Says:
May 16, 2012 - The underlying psychologiccal issues behind anorexia are much greater than someone just calling you "heavy" (resp to @cybaker1982)
tabithawizard Says:
May 16, 2012 - anorexia is allot more complex than that, and the fact that you don't know that proves that either you are lying to us about your experience or lying to yourself and not really in recovery. I really wish that you are lying to us.
LuvMyRoadKingClassic Says:
May 16, 2012 - Poor Karen. What a beautiful person with an amazing voice. I just wish someone stepped in and got her help from that terrible mind controlling disease. I do know anorexia was not understood at that time. I wonder what Richard has been doing? God Bless You, Karen!!
flxdcatbruce Says:
May 17, 2012 - Fortunatly her battle never effected her voice or charm and we have these video's to cherish and enjoy. What a wonderful person that is very muched missed.
DamStanky Says:
May 17, 2012 - The video may have been shot in the 80's, but you're hearing Karen's voice from 1975. This is just a lip-synced performance. However, I concur with everyone here & say Karen's voice never faltered... From 1968 to 1983... Her voice was always flawless.
Zurreentaj Says:
May 18, 2012 - Yes, Karen truly *was* a wonderful singer. I still remember how shocked I was when I heard she had passed away. It was such a tragedy. But, even though this might have been "just a lip-synced performance," as someone here has explained, you've gotta admit just how lively and wonderful she appears in this video. It's shocking to learn at the end of the video that she passed away shortly after making it. May you rest in peace, Karen, and be forever happy now -- with God. Amen.
MsKelliGIzaStar Says:
May 19, 2012 - but that still wouldnt have helped her because she would've still been losing unnececcary weight
cybaker1982 Says:
May 19, 2012 - Gosh, I'm sorry that you think I don't understand. Maybe I should have told about the way I limited myself to one glass of milk a day, and lost that weight within a month. That was in 1983. In 2002 I went from 170 to 138 in less than 3 months, again obsessing about seeing that .5 pound go down each day.
merceplanella Says:
May 23, 2012 - OH! IT´S A MEMORY OF SKY DAYS GOING WITH MOM TO THE PLACES AND THE RADIO SINGING CARPENTER´S SONGS! a good memory
merceplanella Says:
May 23, 2012 - a memoir !
moondogman Says:
May 23, 2012 - I'm glad you made it....It was the atttention given to Karen Carpenter that educated me about this disease.
libergal48 Says:
May 27, 2012 - This was the Bruce Forsyth (sp?) show that Karen performed on without RIchard in Dec. of 1978. Richard could not go to England with her because of his Quaalude addiction. She actually did perform live on the show but this clip has imposed the recorded piece over the video. There are some youtube clips of her singing live on this show.
libergal48 Says:
May 27, 2012 - cybaker1982, please don't feel that you have to explain yourself to people like tabithawizard. You don't.
