Mar 8, 2011 - Excellent technology. I was actually involved in a forced landing/crash caused by an engine failure about a year ago, fortunately, my friend and I both walked away from it with only minor injuries. Often a safe landing can be made in the event of an engine failure, but there are situations where that is not the case. At those times having BRS as an option could be the difference between life and death.

Apr 7, 2011 - @AKPride00 you know nothing about explosives.

Apr 8, 2011 - DULUTH!

Apr 11, 2011 - Would be pretty cool if Diamond Aircraft implements these too! I would probably get a Cirrus over a Diamond Star right now but only because of the chute!! I also saw that the Terrafugia will have parachutes too, I wonder if they will be using Boris Popov's chutes too!?

Apr 22, 2011 - awesome what els can i say ??????

minored360 Says:

May 17, 2011 - 30000 thousand planes in useand 200 hundred parachutes used ?that sounds pretty high

drbackjack Says:

May 30, 2011 - Just think of the size parachute needed for a small commercial aircraft, goodness gracious.

jwboll Says:

Jun 14, 2011 - they have been selling them for hang gliders, ultralights, homebuilts for a years. Cirrus is the first certified aircraft to install them in their planes to compensate for the unrecoverable spin problem.

hakaufma Says:

Jun 15, 2011 - I think it should be mandatory on all planes! Hurry and perfect the technology so the large commercial planes can have these as well! It would give me a great deal of peace of mind when flying! I'd rather hear about this happening instead of having more peanuts offered on my flights!

sixstringfretter Says:

Sep 4, 2011 - The only thing that worries me is that with this installed, the emphisis of keeping failures from happening to begin with may become lax. "Well, we don't need to improve that, if it fails, there's a parachute to save the day" mentallity may start to take hold. It's a nice feature, but eliminating engine failures and pilot error should be the number one priority.

kondakor1998 Says:

Sep 10, 2011 - i completely agree with you people will give a bit of slack because of the chute during preflights and people will miss stuff you would ordinaroly find like a loose screw.

sixstringfretter Says:

Sep 10, 2011 - Yep. According to these guys, they claim that they have save over a hundred planes with close to 300 people. I wish I could see what the reasons for all those failures were. Bet you alot of it is stupid shit that the owners just screwed up.

LordsOfLanding Says:

Dec 21, 2011 - @jwboll. A cirrus will recover from an erect spin just fine and in fact are very difficult airplanes to enter a spin in.

Dec 22, 2011 - @floridaskater07 See comment below

edlkAviator Says:

Jan 23, 2012 - @MynameisElliotit depends on the circumstances under which you have to do a forced landing and the fields quality. in some cases it is impossible to land your aircraft for example when you've lost control because a rudder is blocked. in this case the parachute would safe your life. a forced landing on a normal field is a high risk which could cause high damages not only to the airplane but also to its crew. if you try to land on a wet field you could easily rip off the landing gear or roll ove

karkuten Says:

Feb 3, 2012 - And then you pay 20,000 to rearm the parachute

10sbowden Says:

Feb 7, 2012 - How much does it cost to have one installed?

MrTplexx Says:

Feb 29, 2012 - better than paying 150.000-1.8 Mil for a plane

lexichronicle2 Says:

Mar 16, 2012 - "And then you pay 20,000 to rearm the parachute"You'd prefer to save 20,000 and be dead?

pamonteiro777 Says:

Mar 29, 2012 - Chael Sonnen, Chad Mendes, Ryan Bader...Where are the winners? Why dont TAPOUT sponsor champions? These guys are LOSERS

tnhl77 Says:

May 17, 2012 - I like our 1960's 150 a bit better

tnhl77 Says:

May 17, 2012 - they would be perfect if there was some training rules to go with them the only fatalities involving this system were because of improper use during a crash!

MrYeayeayeayeayeayea Says:

May 25, 2012 - commercial aircraft?? if they do it you cant bring as much bags as you like!
