Dec 31, 2011 - isn't it obvious that robbies mic is on? also why didn't you include him singing in your description?
TheTelecasterhirvone Says:
Jan 8, 2012 - Yes, because he's a good singer and and a brilliant guitarist. Do you have moore of this stupid questions?
iangcunningham Says:
Jan 10, 2012 - Everyone always rips Robbie, but don't forget when The Band was in their prime JRR was an essential piece of the puzzle, as were they all. Those who question his singing ability just haven't heard enough The Band material. Compared to Levon, Rick and Richard he's not at that level but very few humans are....if you go get The Band Musical History boxset there are a few songs that Robbie sings and he's actually pretty good! Particularily his sketch recording of Twilight...hauntingly beautiful.
iangcunningham Says:
Jan 10, 2012 - Besides which, everyone who is ripping him is just jealous. You're talking about the man hand picked by Bob Dylan to play lead guitar on the tour that changed music forever. JRR and The Hawks (at the time) are an essential piece of the evolution of rock and roll as we now know it. That famous tour opened the door for just about everything you listen to!! so have some respect. These men are musical gods and don't deserve to have morons who probably can't even tune a guitar mocking them!!!!

Feb 22, 2012 - Who gives a shit if Robbie can't sing very well? He had a real unique tone and style on guitar, he was a great guitarist and songwriter. Listen to the Dylan song "Dirge". That acoustic playing will tingle your spine. He's a lot better than someone like Keith Richards, who gets a hell of a lot more credit than Robbie.
AdvancedSniperr Says:
Mar 3, 2012 - he's not much better than richards. equal. theyre quite similar really, both great songwriters, both great guitars players of a similar understated style. Richards wrote some of the greatest riffs and guitar parts in history man, never shit on the richards. This is comin from a big robertson fan
AdvancedSniperr Says:
Mar 3, 2012 - I love Robertson, but you can't help feeling this song would've sounded a helluva lot sweeter if his mike hadda been off :L
TheTelecasterhirvone Says:
Mar 24, 2012 - That's true and in further on up the road (from Last Waltz) i think robbie beats Clapton before clapton has his last solo.

Apr 21, 2012 - Robbie's mike is too loud.
RascalXmas Says:
Apr 27, 2012 - seriously. if theres one song where it would have been acceptable that robbie's mic was on, this was it.
whackie Says:
May 4, 2012 - Well that's because Claptons guitar strap slipped off the peg and Robbie stepped in...If you watch it again, I think Eric is laughing about the massive difference between the two styles
MissNellieMilligan Says:
May 27, 2012 - A slight quibble. Keith and Robbie have very different styles, fitting in a similar slot of their groups' sounds. Working along that rhythm line, Robbie, like Garth and Rick, is always doing something more, a reason they're a delight to hear over and over. In The Band, Keith's slot tends to be shared between Richard and Robbie. Keith is in a class by himself when it comes to inventive riffs and powering the whole middle sound. And don't forget Mr. Mick Taylor, a truly wonderful instrumentalist.
