The Canaanites would tell him that they believed their God wanted human sacrifice, and Deity could say, "Nope. I don't approve. Stop that." Then, the Canaanites would say, "Okay, Sorry." And then, they wouldn't have to have people dashing babies heads against the rocks. That would be a good one!

Oct 24, 2011 - Brilliant. Except the Canaanites can't just stop and apologize. We need a real villain here. In fact, even the Egyptians who were obsessed with cleanliness hated them. The Canaanites were known all around as being dirty miscreants. Ok, maybe not a villain (since Mr. Deity has that part) but a representative of humans. Abraham would be perfect. Abraham, upset with Mr. Deity because he was not permitted to sacrifice his son, while Moses was allowed to sacrifice everyone else's sons. Hypocrisy.
