All you have to do is playing a harmonic at the 12th fret, compare it to the note fretted at the same fret and make sure the two notes match. If the fretted note is sharp you will have to move the saddle at the bridge of this particular string away from the neck (toward the strap end pin) and if it is flat you will have to move the saddle toward the neck side. But there are a lot of steps you should follow before you actually set guitar intonation, before you adjust your guitar's intonation.First to properly set your guitar's intonation you have to mount new set of string, adjust the truss rod adjust strings height at bridge. This will allow you to get rid of guitar fret buzz. For how to change the strings on a guitar with a tremolo or whammy bar and how to set guitar bridge adjustment (action), adjusting the string height/action on your guitar, please check my others dedicated video on this channel. Also to perform a correct intonation adjustment on your guitar you have to lower the pickups because pickups are built with magnets which attract strings by pulling them and this influence the guitar intonation adjustment.Guitar intonation must be performed in playing position or be careful to place the guitar on a table so that the gravity force does not inluence the intonation setup like is shown in this video.Other tips on how to set up a guitar intonation is you have to follow is allowing the strings to naturally set on the bridge saddles Follow the video and if you have questions just write.guitar intonationsetting guitar intonationstratocaster intonationhow to set intonationhow to set guitar intonationsetting strat intonationsetting tremolo intonationadjusting guitar intonationadjust guitar intonationset guitar intonationbass guitar intonationsetting up guitar intonationstrat intonation stratocaster intonationhow to set guitar intonationles paul intonationstring intonationbridge intonationguitar intonationsetting guitar intonationacoustic guitar intonationelectric guitar intonationguitar intonation adjustmentadjusting guitar intonationadjust guitar intonationset guitar intonationfixing guitar intonationguitar intonation set upfix guitar intonationguitar intonation problemsguitar intonation setupbass guitar intonationadjusting acoustic guitar intonationsetting up guitar intonationchecking guitar intonationclassical guitar intonationacoustic guitar intonation adjustmentguitar intonation guideguitar intonation floyd roseguitar intonation definitionguitar set upelectric guitar set upbass guitar set upguitar set up guideguitar set up costguitar set up toolsfender guitar set uphttp://www.fruduadirectdeal.com

May 5, 2012 - BRAVO.......at last....... Someone on youtube knows you have to set and check intonation in the "playing position".

Moshermini Says:

May 8, 2012 - Hey what tuner did you use?

kerryshrode Says:

May 10, 2012 - These are truly some of the best strat setup videos online. I sincerely appreciate you sharing your years of knowledge and experience with us. There is no value that can be placed on that. Thank you. I would suggest a full setup video A-Z using what you already have but arranging it by what to do first, second, third, etc. Then a maintenance video on how to keep the setup and intonation you want. Waiting for the PU video. These are fabulous and right to the point.

May 11, 2012 - Good work, very acurate

May 11, 2012 - I'm having trouble with my 6th dstring, low E. I have the saddle as tight as it will go and the string is still sharp at the 12th fret. I also find the strings in general will not be in tune when I make a chord near the nut if I tune them individually. If I tune them using the 5th fret to the next string, everything works better, but the tuner says they are all over the place, maybe 2 are in tune and the rest are flat and sharp. The action is very good and meets fender specs, the bridge is

proaudioguy Says:

May 11, 2012 - floating but it's not as high as fender specs. I actually would like it a tiny bit higher but the intonation would be even worse.the NUT is an LSR ball bearing nut. Never had any trouble with it. Doesn't have any shims so if I were to lower it, I'd have to sand it down a bit. I have installed one before so I am not too afraid to do that but I'd rather not cut on the guitar if I can avoid it. I figure it should have come from Fender set up right the first time.

proaudioguy Says:

May 11, 2012 - It's a jeff beck signature 1995, I purchased new. It has 2 texas specials set low, and a FRED in the bridge that's a little to close to the strings. Need longer pickup screws. I am using 11-50s tuned down a step DGCFAD. Thanks for your help. I'll get some screws for the bridge tomorrow and see if that helps at all, but I doubt it.

manguisd1 Says:

May 16, 2012 - My only problem is finding how hard to press the the string down when fretting on the 12th fret. I have a les paul and I am having issues with the intonation.

May 16, 2012 - Excellent piece!

Sparta2310 Says:

May 19, 2012 - You really took the mystery out of intonation for me. I had imagined it was something only a "Master Luthier" could be capable of doing! Thanks, just going to watch your "Truss rod adjustment" video now and I might be able to save myself some money by being able to set up my own guitars instead of a music store doing it for me.

May 20, 2012 - Hey Galeazzo, I have been playing guitar for along time now & I want to let you know I think your videos are great. Here I was impressed to see how you note the effect of gravity on the neck & how this affects intonation & tuning. Many people starting out don't realise this significant variable, but it's the 1st thing you talk about. You are helping the world's guitar players sound better, thanks brother!
