Mar 11, 2012 - Please learn how elephants suffer from babyhood for tourism and captivity--called phajaan. Do not give money to elephant captivity even elephant "conservation" tourism. Elephants will go extinct in 20 years unless humans change their "old" thinking. Please spread the word. Information: tiny.cc[slash]phajaan.

Mar 27, 2012 - Yes, these drawings are absolutely amazing and elephants are extraordinary animals. But how have they become painters?? This can't come naturally to them...I can only hope with all my heart that they are being treated and trained gently and fairly. After finding out how they were electrocuted while filming 'Water for Elephants' I have serious doubts and these videos make me sad.

Apr 15, 2012 - I read somewhere the trainer is pulling at the ear of the elephant to control the animal.I quote: ''He nudges it up and down to get the animal to make a vertical line, or pulls it sideways to get a horizontal one. To encourage spots and blobs he tugs the ear forward, towards the canvas.''

May 10, 2012 - These elephants are mistreated in order to train them to paint for tourists! See National Geographic site for more details. Teaching it to paint is achieved by issuing voice commands whilst stabbing the trunk with a sharp nail. If the poor 3 year olds do not take the instructions easily a metal hook is sometimes driven into its bleeding head, literally forcing it to learn.

May 14, 2012 - Type "the elephant lady" into the search bar and watch how these animals are trained from about 4mins in. How people are trained to be so gullible and incurious, I have no idea. This is not something to admire or be enchanted and amazed by, nor is it anything we should consider paying for.

May 19, 2012 - why?

May 19, 2012 - Each elephant has his or her own specialty painting. It's so lovely to wach them!!
nacillim1 Says:
May 20, 2012 - These elephants are tortured until they submit to humans, then trained through the infliction of pain. People who are in any doubt can watch "the elephant lady" video from about 4mins in, or any one of the elephant training videos here on you tube. People who find this spectacle wondrous or lovely should try to be more curious about reality.
