May 21, 2012 - Nah not really, Beethoven was a genius but he never had the musical freedom that modern artists have. The most creative thing considered to be music at the time were augmented 6th chords, any more dissonance and the patron probably wouldn't accept the "rubbish dissonance". Mozart once tried to write with dissonance but the dude didn't pay him claiming the piece was full of wrong notes..

The only thing I tried to make ppl understand is that Beethoven as a deaf man composed better music than most of the ppl nowadays, and I said Matt is a great musician but not the greatest. And if you agree or not its not my problem cuz I pointed out my personal opinion. And Beethoven made the european hymn and I rly doubt that anyone could do such thing today or in a near future! (obviously as a DEAF person).

May 24, 2012 - Beethoven actually had complete freedom. Vienna literally payed him to STAY in Vienna (he had been wanting to leave). They gave him no requirements other than to simply stay in Vienna. He was allowed to write anything he wanted, and as a result he pretty much invented the Romantic era by systematically breaking every rule of the Classical era. That's a slightly larger feat than anything Muse has ever done.... Love Muse, but they don't compare to Beethoven.
