Apr 11, 2011 - The new rules are a very small step in the right direction. This tv ad is a lie. Big banks are pulling in billions of dollars by charging huge swipe fees. Check out the 10 Billion dollars pulled in by a few mega banks. This is electronic transaction for a checking account. Debit cards elliminate the huge overhead of check processing, but, checks are "free" and debit cards are being used by banks to fund massive bonuses for bank CEOs. The FED should cut swipe fees to 1cent per swipe.
