Apr 29, 2012 - Kid Creole grew out of the remnants of August Darnell's collaboration with his brother Stony in the Savannah Band - a group who merged 40's style songs with seventies dance music. They were part of the roster of ZE Records acts (bands like the Aural Exciters who likewise fused styles like funk, jazz, calypso, electronic, funk, soul, Latin, etc). What really set them apart was the humour of their lyrics and stage act. Coati Mundi used to pride himself on his pre-show calisthenic work-outs.
