Feb 11, 2012 - CDs (not CD's...compact discs, not compact disc's...check your sentence) were not quickly replacing cassettes in 1985...not even close...you're talking about the golden age of the Sony Walkman, Sony Walkman were alot smaller and with Dolby Digital music processing they sounded pretty damn good too...everybody wanted a portable cd player, but they were too costly and cumbersome in those days...just a bit of info from an old geezer who was alive in 1985

Mar 8, 2012 - You're right, i was a teen in 85 and i just dont recall ever seeing a music CD, let alone quickly replacing the most popular cassette tape, until at least early 90's. That top comment thru me off too. Cassettes dominated in the 80's. As did the "Boom Box".
