May 27, 2012 - Hackman was 5 years older than an O6 HAS to retire at when he filmed this! And in the movie they had him requesting 'early retirement'. They could have gone with someone 50 instead of 65 and it would have been more reasonable.

May 28, 2012 - After reading some of the posts, I think I WOULD have hated this movie if I had any background in the navy. But as an average, ignorant moviegoer, I thought this film was pretty decent. The powerplay between Washington and Hackman was riveting at times.
