He could assume that Daniel has a monster (pocket J's or even a single J factoring in Dwan's bluffing record) and shove and hope that he gets called, but if not, there's no value there. Dwan had the deck crippled, and it wasn't likely Daniel had a hand so once the turn came around with the nuts he tried to get as much value as possible and checks to Daniel
