Title: Emily Remler - a blues

Added: Sep 17, 2006

Author: jazzster123

Duration: 4:23

Description:
Excerpt from a training session. This is a blues performed in the key of Bb, but the head is sort of a combination of Wes' D-natural blues and Monks Blue Monk. Not her finest playing but didn't see any other clips of her. she was a fine jazz guitarist with a heavy Wes Montgomery influence.

Sep 9, 2011 - I come new to Emily (or not as that is my wifes name) but she is great, truely inspiring the way she feels the music, and all for the love of the metronome, now theres a thing!!

taariqtaariq Says:

Sep 11, 2011 - don't take heroin kiddies. That is what robbed us of this woman's gift to music and the world.

taariqtaariq Says:

Sep 11, 2011 - those strings are flat wound jazz strings.

Oct 18, 2011 - Emily, can you slow that down a little please?

Alpha7xxx Says:

Oct 21, 2011 - Sounds great! Emily can you please slow that down for us?

Dec 7, 2011 - the coolest...that girl is smoking

GeorgiaBoy1961 Says:

Dec 12, 2011 - @ilcongia: Actually, Joe Pass was one of her biggest fans... as well as other respected players like Herb Ellis and Larry Coryell. She was the real deal, and gone too soon.

bigkittysmile Says:

Dec 19, 2011 - she's a fine jazz guitarist, but to me she always sounds like she's copying someone else.

capitalismforme Says:

Dec 21, 2011 - even though you use a plectrum, that's was really fuckin good.

fenderbender92 Says:

Dec 27, 2011 - In the grand scheme of things, everyone's bound to copy someone else. But if I can quote Goethe: "The most original authors are not so because they advance what is new, but because they put what they have to say as if it had never been said before." And Ms. Remler does that perfectly here, musically speaking.

Jplent1 Says:

Jan 2, 2012 - wes...

Jplent1 Says:

Jan 2, 2012 - Saw her with Coryell..nice playing by both of them. Larry got 'out.'

bigkittysmile Says:

Jan 2, 2012 - i must say i don't totally agree. no disrespect to her, but she wasn't one of the greats to me. this just sounds like she's copying wes. lots of people do that on youtube.

fenderbender92 Says:

Jan 3, 2012 - And so? Music's music. If you're so fond of novelty, wait until the new iPods come out or something. Emily Remler has a voice. Are you going to shit on every author after Shakespeare because they can't 'advance' the English language?

bigkittysmile Says:

Jan 4, 2012 - i'm not shitting on her. that's your view. i just don't like her playing. tastes differ right?

fenderbender92 Says:

Jan 4, 2012 - But this isn't about taste. If Emily Remler was deliberately copying Wes Montgomery, she'd play note for note one of his solos--which she doesn't even do here.

bigkittysmile Says:

Jan 4, 2012 - this is obviously largely a copy of wes' d-natural blues. much of it is note for note. you're just wasting time on lame comments.

fenderbender92 Says:

Jan 5, 2012 - All I hear is her using D blues as the framework for this. But I'll agree with you that I'm wasting my time.

ladyluckmisao Says:

Jan 24, 2012 - what kind of guitar is she playing? It's a gibson, right?

sirgerry Says:

Feb 10, 2012 - This is the best comment I've read in YT in months

psyoptica Says:

Mar 18, 2012 - She's one of the few impressive female players I've seen. I don't mean that in a sexist way. It's just that a lot of mediocre girl guitar players get overhyped and marketed purely because of their sex. Orianthi, Jacqueline Mannering, The Great Kat etc. can't hold a candle to Emily.

Taldisuiskai Says:

Mar 19, 2012 - I love her She is awesome

taariqtaariq Says:

May 18, 2012 - I always say female guitarist = Emily Remler. She was just brilliant and played with clean sound, good tone, feel , taste and chops too.
