Jun 16, 2010 - What an incredible bird!  My sister went to a show where Irena Schultz presented her research and she had Snowball with. She showed me some of the video she took. This bird goes beyond being a great dancer. He has an incredible personality too! You could easily show a half hour's worth of this bird and it would never get boring.

Aug 17, 2010 - The bird is quite obviously only responding to its trainer's movements. Take away the trainer, give it a song it has never heard before, and if it still dances in time, then I'll be impressed.

Sep 22, 2010 - wow, typical media, typical "modern science". i thought these highly educated nobel laureates were going to say that they brought the bird into their lab, and ran preliminary tests, interacted with it, (and owner) and then duplicated this feat under controlled conditions. instead, they watched the video. wow. i watched the video too and couldn't help but notice the owner's shadow dancing in the background. the bird is simply mimicking the behavior of others as so many of these birds do.

But he has been tested with different songs without the help and has indeed been shown to keep the proper beat by himself. They've even played the same song speeded or slowed and he adjusts.

Nov 9, 2010 - For those who are skeptical of the scientific experiments that were conducted on this dancing bird I recommend reading one of the journal articles that has been published by this research group. Go to Google Scholar and search for the paper named "Studying Synchronization to a Musical Beat in Nonhuman Animals". This is a peer reviewed paper and goes into great detail of the experiments that were conducted so you can better determine the validity of the science.
