May 31, 2010 - passing the cbt validates your provisional status . this means that you may ride a vehicle upto 125cc on the road but you must display l plates and you may not carry a pillion . you may not use the motorway network . the cbt is valid for 2 years , plenty of time to pass your test .

mickoughton Says:
Aug 20, 2010 - yes paul , cbt gives you the skills to conduct yourself safely on the road , its up to you what you ride as long as it is within the legal limits for your age

May 26, 2011 - Really good vid mate. Im going to take my CBT soon, I will be riding a CG125 when I pass and Im 18. How many lessons do you think I should do before taking the CBT?
mickoughton Says:
May 26, 2011 - no need for lessons to take a cbt . you only need a good working knowledge of the highway code and balance . its all about safety and validades your provisional status allowing you to ride alone while getting ready for your test . best of luck .

Jun 28, 2011 - Hi im am 17 and i am going to do my cbt soon is it true i can ride a 125 after the test . plz write back thanks
mickoughton Says:
Jun 28, 2011 - hello ashley , after completion of the cbt , a person 17yo or over can ride upto a 125cc machine with a power output not exceeding 14.8bhp for a period of two years subject to learner restrictions including displaying l plates and is excluded from carrying pillion passengers or using motorways . within the 2 years it is expected that you would pass your full motorcycle test or you will have to take the cbt again . hope this is helpful .

Jul 30, 2011 - is it nerve racking that for 2 hours theres an instructor watching your every move?
mickoughton Says:
Aug 1, 2011 - not really, remember its not a test , its a course of instruction . if you have a problem , which many people have , it will simply be advised as a correction , as the two hour road ride contiues you will hear the instructor less as your confidance and skills improve .

Oct 9, 2011 - im 17 and i have my cbt booked for 2 weeks, ive got atleast 2 years experience of riding bikes with 30+ horsepower as i do motorcross. would i still have to go over the long stages of learning to accelerate and brake and ride in a figure of eight or can i go straight onto the 2hour ride on the road seems as that would be too easy of a task for me?
mickoughton Says:
Oct 9, 2011 - the cbt is an assesment of your road skills . you didnt mention your expiriance on the road . remember that you only have to demonstrate your ability on each stage to move onto the next one . also dont forget that the biggest reason for further training is a lack of highway code knowledge . pleased you decided to move from the track to the road , your expiriance so fasr will be a lot of use to you because your first stages of cbt will go quickly .
