Oct 8, 2011 - Such intensity for such a young age. Janis is certainly the real deal and she has stood the test of time. In fact I have listened to some of her later stuff recorded last year and recently and I have formed the view her voice has got better with age. Thank you Janis from the years of enjoyment I have had from your talent!!!

Oct 13, 2011 - She was definitely well advanced than her age and an incredible talent. Along with "At Seventeen", her music lives in our life forever.

Oct 19, 2011 - I played guitar all through high school and on into Jr. Collage where I studied Music. I played with several people during that time in the San Francisco Bay Area. We were serious about what we were doing and thought we had a grip on what music was and meant. Then one night at a friends house Janis came on TV and sang At Seventeen.... Boy did I get schooled that night. Thanks for the Post. I have never seen these early performances. And Janis if you ever read these comments.. Thanks much!

Nov 2, 2011 - She was clearly depressed when she was younger. In one song (Mrs. McKenzie), she says, "You can't fix your mind when it's trapped in the twine of the psycho blues."

FLSHBK1 Says:

Nov 2, 2011 - Yessir, I agree. And having been a teenager once myself, I have to say most of us felt inadequate back then. Teenagers who hate themselves and feel they "FAIL" at life are just as numerous today as they were back then. It has to be the primary reason for rampant drug abuse among teens ~ a form of escape from their perception of unacceptable 'reality'. If only they could see thmslvs the way we view them ~ young, healthy, with their entire lifetimes ahead, able to own the world.

Nov 10, 2011 - She looked cuter w/ the straight hair than w/ the Jew-fro, but she sang better as an adult. This is ok for a teenager I guess, but it sucks compared to what she was doing in the mid 70s.
