Apr 28, 2012 - Ah but we're not talking about "kids" or "training" are we?We're talking about grown men proving their combative ability in a tournament.Grown men who spend years conditioning their minds and bodies to fight - and neglect the targeting and defence of the one part of the human body that really is a viable target for a punch. This no punching the head training is fine or building spirit in children but it's no substitute for headguards and gloves for grown men.

Apr 28, 2012 - You need to understand that rule was put in just for that issue.
MrLordofDub Says:
May 2, 2012 - So you thing you could maul one of these guys in the street?
baldieman64 Says:
May 2, 2012 - Well I don't know. I'm quite a bit older than they are but I did teach martial arts for over 20 years and have studied ju jitsu, muay thai, kali etc. I've had my share of battles. Not that that means much. Street fights are more about judging the situatuiion and acting decisively or reacting appropriately that they are about facing off mano et mano and slugging it out - although I've done that too.Even if I were the worlds worst street fighter it wouldn't invalidate my argument though.
MrLordofDub Says:
May 2, 2012 - I get where you're coming from with the no hits to the face. I would have thought though that their conditioning would go a long way and unless they were daft they would expect a street fighter to attack the face. I'm probably being pedantic but I just thought calling Kyokushin pointless was a bit harsh mate :)
baldieman64 Says:
May 2, 2012 - I don't believe I said that Kyokushin was pointless. I did say that honing your skills for a completely unrealistic combat scenario is both pointless and dangerous - it's a bit like an arm wresting champion thinking he can fight !I'm sure there are people who train Kyokushin as an effective martial art - but these aren't they.
MrLordofDub Says:
May 2, 2012 - Maybe dude. To be honest I have a soft spot for karate especially as its the kind of martial art you can do into old age (I'm 37 and have only just started). If I had my time again I would definitely take up boxing. BTW have you seen the episode of fight quest on Kyokushinkai?
baldieman64 Says:
May 2, 2012 - Not seen the program but then I'm UK based and we only get a limited slice of US programming.Starting at 37..... You may find that you start to get bored with Karate. That or the stretching may take it's toll.If you do (and you can find somewhere to train) have a look at the empty hand Filipino systems (Panantukan, Kali etc) as they are very direct but have a fluidity in their training methods that prevents boredom - and they're mainly hands so limited stretching.
Master1906 Says:
May 2, 2012 - No dude. I have something called a 'life'. I only go on youtube on my phone, and my computer once in a while. You seem to use that fact as an excuse to proclaim an invalid argument. Pretty poor, to be honest. I must say, your English is certainly improving, no? I can almost understand what you're saying. Been taking more classes ever since I verbally raped you? However, please don't repeat yourself. You said practically the same comment a few months ago. Try something new.
Southpaw4warrior Says:
May 3, 2012 - Ok, so you claim you have a life. So what? Why would I believe you? You've lied to me before. So why would I believe you now? You also love to exaggerate. If I would believe everything you've told me about yourself. Then you must be some sort of a super human. You also exaggerate now. You say that you "verbally raped" me. Then how about the grammar mistakes you've done, did you just conveniently forgot them? And why do you make it sound like I'm the only one that have repeated myself?
Southpaw4warrior Says:
May 3, 2012 - So please tell me. What exactly are you doing in your so called "life"? You once told me that you're busy with homework. But I myself am very busy with homework, yet I find time to write to you. When Youtube had the bug and I told you that I saw you logged in, without commenting back. You said that you looked on Youtube with your cellphone. That was the reason why you couldn't reply back. But please enlighten me. What're you doing watching Youtube on your cellphone in the middle of the night!?
Southpaw4warrior Says:
May 3, 2012 - Not only that, you did it three days a row! Three weekdays! The reason I know that was because I was writing reports on my computer, something I must do. Because I'm not even allowed to even write my reports for hand. Which makes this "homework" thing more doubtful.... So please explain why you weren't at home in middle of the night doing your homework that you claim you're doing. Were you training? If so, why couldn't you say so? Could it be because you didn't train and did something else? o.O
Master1906 Says:
May 6, 2012 - lol I don't even write reports since all my courses are exam based not to mention mainly mathematical. 3 Weekdays? Yeah that was during my half term holidays where I had nothing better to do.
Southpaw4warrior Says:
May 6, 2012 - Well ok, now I understand why you don't need to use your computer as much as I do. This makes perfectly sense. If your courses are exam based, it's understandable. But the rest of your comment.... Really? Your previous comment implied that you were "busy" with your life. And now somehow, you "had nothing to do" for one and a half hour, three days in a row, yet you still didn't have the "time" too reply back to me non of those days? Seriously, under what circumstances were you in? o.O
NxChrissss Says:
May 19, 2012 - Why aren't they allowed to punch in the face?
nicodlr Says:
May 20, 2012 - it would be very violent to allow that, and this way the fighters uses more the kicks, and thats more entertaining for us. and the martial art teaches you only punching the body. thats why.
k9m42 Says:
May 21, 2012 - Without punches to the face they are not prepared to react to punches to the face. Great fighting though.
cspark809 Says:
May 22, 2012 - Your right, but then far as I know, early days of Kyokushin Karate used to punch on the face, but someone died, so they made the rule not to punch on the face.If they didn't make that rule, I bet kyokushin might end up very similar with muaythai, or kickboxing.
NxChrissss Says:
May 22, 2012 - So i see that kicks to the face are less violent then punches. go figure.
calimeero Says:
May 23, 2012 - who is Nr. 51 anybody aware it?
noobinstarcraft2 Says:
May 24, 2012 - hit and run xD haha classic so fun to watch
nicodlr Says:
May 25, 2012 - if they were punches to the face, it woulnt be so many kick to the face. and, you can broke your hand fighting like you say,. also, there arent soo many hi kicks, you dont se too much blood in the fights.
MrPragalv Says:
May 28, 2012 - kill 601 bastards!!

OVERCAPITALIZE Says:
Apr 28, 2012 - There's a reason why there is no punching to the face. No one trains a martial art if they get a bruise on their face, that'll make anyone fearing to go out in public, also equal less money coming in and less people in to train. This is why a lot of parents allow kids to be in wrestling rather than boxing. So if i were you, think a bit before you comment.
