Title: Shell Oil - The Awful Truth

Description:
BOYCOTT SHELL - FREE NIGERIAhttp://www.protectthehuman.com/shellShell Nigeria is one of the largest oil producers in the Royal Dutch/Shell Group. 80% of the oil extraction in Nigeria is in the Niger Delta, the southeast region of the country. The Delta is home to many small minority ethnic groups, including the Ogoni, all of which suffer egregious exploitation by multinational oil companies, like Shell. Shell provides over 50% of the income keeping the Nigerian dictatorship in power.Although oil from Ogoniland has provided approximately $30 billion to the economy of Nigeria, the people of Ogoni see little to nothing from their contribution to Shell's pocketbook. Shell has done next to nothing to help Ogoni. By 1996, Shell employed only 88 Ogoni (0.0002% of the Ogoni population, and only 2% of Shell's employees in Nigeria). Ogoni villages have no clean water, electricity, abysmal health care, no jobs for displaced farmers and fisher persons and face the effects of unrestrained environmental molestation by Shell everyday.Since Shell began drilling oil in Ogoniland in 1958, the people of Ogoniland have had pipelines built across their farmlands and in front of their homes, suffered endemic oil leaks from these very pipelines, been forced to live with the constant flaring of gas. This environmental assault has smothered land with oil, killed masses of fish and other aquatic life, and introduced devastating acid rain to the land of the Ogoni. For the Ogoni, a people dependent upon farming and fishing, the poisoning of the land and water has had devastating economic and health consequences. Shell claims to clean up its oil spills, but such "clean-ups" consist of techniques like burning the crude which results in a permanent layer of crusted oil metres thick and scooping oil into holes dug in surrounding earth. Both Shell and the government admit that Shell contributes to the funding of the military in the Delta region. Under the auspices of "protecting" Shell from peaceful demonstrators in the village of Umeuchem (10 miles from Ogoni), the police killed 80 people, destroyed houses and vital crops. Shell conceded it twice paid the military for going to specific villages. Although it disputes that the purpose of these excursions was to quiet dissent, each of the military missions paid for by Shell resulted in Ogoni fatalities. Shell has also admitted purchasing weapons for the police force who guard its facilities, and there is growing suspicion that Shell funds a much greater portion of the military than previously admitted. Ken Saro-Wiwa and the Ogoni 8 were leaders of MOSOP, the Movement for Survival of the Ogoni People. As outspoken environmental and human rights activists, they declared that Shell was not welcome in Ogoniland. On November 10, 1995, they were hanged after a trial by a special military tribunal (whose decisions cannot be appealed) in the murder of four other Ogoni activists. The defendants' lawyers were harassed and denied access to their clients. Although none of them were near the town where the murders occurred, they were convicted and sentenced to death in a trial that many heads of state strongly condemned for a stunning lack of evidence, unmasked partiality towards the prosecution and the haste of the trial. The executions were carried out a mere eight days after the decision. Two witnesses against the MOSOP leaders admitted that Shell and the military bribed them to testify against Ken Saro-Wiwa with promises of money and jobs at Shell. Ken's final words before his execution were: "The struggle continues!"

Feb 23, 2012 - Oke ITER is interesting but much more complicated then cold fusion. If you are a good sport and i'm sure you are, you should look on ecatnews. com or rossifocardifusion. com etc. etc.Give it and me a chance to get you convinced.Cold fusion has been crushed by the media al those years because of the immence oil interests. The media, Oil tycoons, the governement they are 1. So it makes sence for them to put it in a bad daylight.
omgbieberfan Says:
Feb 23, 2012 - If governments are afraid of fusion, why have they invested 16 billion euros into ITER? And this is just one of many projects. The burden of proof for the e-cat thing lies with the inventors. If he would provide independent scientists with the machine, and let them run their own experiments free of interference, then people would belive it. But all these claims, with no solid proof, have all the hallmarks of a scam and run contrary to how things work in science.
omgbieberfan Says:
Feb 23, 2012 - Fusion is complicated - this is a fact of life. Although it is tempting to buy into a seemingly simple solution, it is not wise. Rather than doing that, it is better spending some time learning about WHY it is complicated in the first place, this is where the answers lie. Unfortunately, this is post-graduate level stuff - this is why its not spoken about in the media, they cant package it into a 10 minute segment.
omgbieberfan Says:
Feb 23, 2012 - And why am i asking about your scientific background? Well, fusion is a complicated topic in physics, so obviously an opinion from someone with a good grounding in the subject is worth more than someone who doesnt have that education. Same reason i would listen to chef when it comes to cooking, or to a doctor when im ill.

Feb 23, 2012 - canadians are mostly of european extraction where they should have stayed in my opinion, with their tar sands oil extraction and their oppression of the indigenous just like their "cracker," cousins down south, they haven't the mettle to stand against pollution and oppression; i say boycott cracker canada and open the border with mexico for a little fresh air. i personally, would never stop at a shell station because of their greed and environmental insensitivity

Feb 24, 2012 - this is why our world is messed up... i just wish everybody would get some sense and stop this f**kin mess
anonismorefun Says:
Feb 26, 2012 - solar could replace them all if they funded nano tech properly also. who cares, ALL of these options would be a better and cleaner source to fund then oil. im pretty sure there are videos of cold fusion on YT, using salt water. . .
SuperTurbo1200 Says:
Feb 28, 2012 - True true you should start by recycling every product in your home that was either made or delivered using some kind of an oil source ! If we all do this we can end dirty oil ! Ill meet all you guys here after and we can blog about it.... errr wait I won't have a computer.... WILL DO LUNCH... errrr wait there won't be food to be served. WELL DRINKS hmmm that won't work no cups. AH FUCK IT DRILL BABY DRILL !
omgbieberfan Says:
Mar 1, 2012 - lol!
omgbieberfan Says:
Mar 1, 2012 - 'videos of cold fusion on YT' but somehow a complete absense of peer reviewed studies showing it is even theoretically possible?? Sounds legit, all the best scientists are just using YT these days, all that data-shit and peer review crap is a waste of time.... Maybe solar, but to manufacture the panels is itself isnt exactly green, but still we should definitely make more use of solar. I'm sure we will once they become more cost efficient
anonismorefun Says:
Mar 1, 2012 - scientist research for those who FUND THEM. you act as if the scientific community always keeps their integrity. i agree, cold fusion has been left in the dark with very little funding, therefore the peer reviews are nonexistent. but the basis for the funding can be found on YT. to count ANY website that contains as many "peers" as YT does as irrelevant is a bit unfair imo. without YT the american population would be nothing but savages. . .
omgbieberfan Says:
Mar 2, 2012 - "Peer review is a process of self-regulation by a profession or a process of evaluation involving qualified individuals ***WITHIN THE RELEVANT FIELD***." How many YT'ers have a phd related to nuclear/plasma physics? Come on, don't be an idiot. And you can't review a video that just shows a supposed fusion machine - where is the data? Where do they explain their methods? Can it be repeated? People want fusion, if you think there is no money to be made in it you are a fool.
anonismorefun Says:
Mar 2, 2012 - once again, if there are no peer reviews then two answers are possible, either sufficient study was shown that this technology is impossible, or enough members of the science community have no integrity. people might want fusion, but the people with all the money like things the way they are. and to be honest, cold fusion is just one of many options that still make more sense then oil.
omgbieberfan Says:
Mar 2, 2012 - the problem is that the people who have these devices, that supposedly have cold fusion working, will not let them be tested. This Rossi guy that another poster pointed out is a good example - people are interested in his machine, but he only demonstrates it himself and under very restricted conditions! People want fusion to work, there is no evil man in a suit, ala half life, standing in the doorway looking threatening.
omgbieberfan Says:
Mar 2, 2012 - and yes, i agree that there are much better sources of enerygy than oil - i think that regular fusion will solve our energy needs within a hundred years or so. But in the mean time none of the other technology has the efficiency or cost effectiveness to completely replace oil - therefore we need companies like Shell. Oil is used for much more than energy too remember, solar power doesn't help make plastic, in fact the panels themselves probably use it!
omgbieberfan Says:
Mar 2, 2012 - I am not defending every practice of the oil and gas industry, that would be stupid. But it is also stupid to make sweeping statements regarding the people who work in the industry, SinneDnl84 being a prime example - "people". What exactly does that suggest? That people that work for shell are somehow less than human? Surely even those most staunchly against oil can see that this sort of statement is wrong. Some of you sound like the anti abortion wackos that go arounf killing doctors.
anonismorefun Says:
Mar 2, 2012 - your absolutely right. we could never stop using oil, just in tires alone. . . but i believe there is a Japanese scientist who converts plastic back into oil . . . an interesting technology that could help us down the road.
jacketman22 Says:
Mar 10, 2012 - I would still buy Shell, just because they don't put ethanol in their high-octane fuel.
YamiPoyo Says:

Mar 12, 2012 - Canadian Oilsands all the way Baby!!!! :)
lolley1100 Says:
Mar 15, 2012 - ...I use synthetic shell oil because it makes my engine run smoother, it gives the most horsepower, and doesn't break down nearly as fast as other brands. (This is not my opinion, nor something I have heard, this is by me using different oils) I guess it's time to switch to another company, it makes me sick that I'm supporting a company like this...

Feb 23, 2012 - @omgbieberfan No i'm from the Netherlands so thx for not mentioning it.... :SWhy do you want to know my scientific background?I've learned how to read at school, and i can make my own conclusions. That's enough to get me convinced that this is working.Rossi a fraud? If I enter @ google ''Einstein fraud'' it leads me to site where that's been claimed.I don't know what you have entered and what kind of filtering your country is using but I don't get such results.
