Description:
This is one of Bowie's songs that I really love. It has got a true meaning. He sings it with his own, special and unique way. I think he has the most beautiful blue eyes, he is very talented and a legendary glam rock singer. Really glad to had the chance to hear to his work and feel all the feelings that he want to pass to his fans. I love his persona Ziggy Stardust. Some people like him, some others not. The reason is one: If you decide to listen Bowie's songs you have to be able to find the hidden, true meaning of the lyrics and then take a trip to his world. It is a strange world but that's the thing that makes David being special and unique. David I am a true fan, thanks for giving me a chance to dream...Original Song: Jacques Brel

Mar 2, 2012 - this cover is magical, though Jacques Brel's version is just perfect! by the way, can't you just precise it has been written and sung by Brel, i can see everyone's being confused about it!i'm french and this song is known by everyone here (if not they're weird), it is a national shared treasure with our belgian friends. :-) thank you

Apr 7, 2012 - Sans aucun doute, c'est la seule reprise d'une chanson de Brel qui lui rende hommage.

Apr 13, 2012 - Awesome interpretation by Bowie..not an imitation of the original (would have been almost impossible to do) but a "Bowie version" that really gives chills.

Apr 16, 2012 - Nice! I bet Brel would have thought it was pretty cool too.Would have liked to have seen his reaction to it. Too bad so few english speaking music fans know how good of a songwriter this guy was.

May 4, 2012 - Fabulous interpretation, singing Brel is as hard as hell, and in order to dare changing the lyrics almost making them better, you have to be called Mr David Bowie. Brilliant!

May 9, 2012 - Awesome!!!!
Woodshifter Says:
May 9, 2012 - Bowie didn't change the lyrics. Scott Walker had already sung this in 1967. (His version is better by far, I think.) The English lyrics were written by Rod McKuen.

May 10, 2012 - Thanks for those precisions. Indeed when I listened to the song again, I realized the lyrics were the same, so that's an even harder task. Well done Mr Bowie!

Feb 2, 2012 - Of course it can be compared to Brel. It just doesn't come out as better. Brel's version is THE version.
