Nov 16, 2009 - Hi Evolving2Change. I spoke to Mr. Bradbury, and he was not insulted. You could argue that his work belongs in dystopian fiction, fantasy fiction, horror fiction, etc. I agree that his work belongs under the umbrella of speculative fiction, which includes sci- fi. However, the mainstream would recognize him as a sci-fi author. For the sake of broadcast journalism, words to describe his literary works must be succinct and understood by the majority. Nov 14, 2009 - Why the fuck do people keep referring to Ray Bradbury as a science fiction author. It's a tremendous insult to him and his writings which have spanned across different genres. Fahrenheit 451 as far as I can tell was his only book that dealt with science fiction. The rest we're speculative fiction which your average joe or jane would mistake for something other.
