Jul 20, 2010 - I agree with U. And the new HLV will be more adaptable over time related to job.Look up Jupiter Direct on You Tube for more info. Another possible HLV is the Shuttle derived vehicle also on You Tube.

Jul 20, 2010 - To many negatives in this new bill for me to want it.Takes away 90%!!!! from the exploration missions for Nasa.Funds for a heavy lift but not enough which means a over run and more money requested later on at best and at worst another constellation. Also to fund the heavy we get atleast Half of the 3.3 billion take for COTS for 3 years. So as much as it might sound good it just kinda disapoints me.
Kapitananime Says:
Jul 20, 2010 - @valcan321You have to blame Obama and his poor vision. As he miscalculated the affection the American Public have for NASA. He compromised real fast on this as he saw just how unpopular his VAGUE plan was. But still no real destination for the HLV and Obama will be well out of office once this rocket takes flight. So a new administration will have to make that choice years from now. I only hope Bolden and Garver are thrown under a bus before then.
valcan321 Says:
Jul 20, 2010 - Yes but what i dont like is that ALL of this avoids the real problem.Nasa needs a raise. EVERYONE but Nasa has been getting a raise. There is simply not enough money in the new budget to fund a HLV. There also is a huge cut in exploration and in COTS.Say what you want about Obama i dont like him i've said it before however we need to REALLY fund the advances in space technology. No one will. All this budget does is buy votes. Once again we have avoided the real problem.

Jul 20, 2010 - Makes me want to buy a Omega watch.WOA!!!Expensive lol
CessnaDriver2 Says:
Jul 20, 2010 - Well said! Just what I am thinking. Obama really lost this one big time.Today Armstrong, Cernan, and Lovell signed onto the compromise plan as well. The arguement for moon is only going to grow especailly if Orion can fly an Apollo 8 type mission. More and more water gets found there. The moon cannot be deorbited or defunded like the space station. Returning to moon is inevitable and is our training ground for the rest of the solar system.
DionLaurent1 Says:
Jul 20, 2010 - John F. Kennedy Was The Last True President Of The United States Of AMERICA!
Iamnotaparakeet Says:
Jul 20, 2010 - Kennedy actually allowed for the space program to do more than just pay a group of wishful thinkers, but there's more than that for an elected leader to do. It's the election that makes a president "true" or "false", not whether they do more than absorb publicity and a Nobel prize because of their shade of melanin alone.

Jul 21, 2010 - Excellent show Miles, thanks to you and your team for putting in all the effort that you do!
ssf1111 Says:
Jul 21, 2010 - 11 billion, seems like a bargain considering 2 weeks in Iraq cost more.

Jul 21, 2010 - Great reporting once again. Thanks a lot.
dennizenx Says:
Jul 21, 2010 - a watch made out of meteors... what next ?! :) Great show, like the new 'fade'. I had no idea OMEGA was so involved. I guess you really do learn something new everyday.

Jul 21, 2010 - 1 word:720p.
moneyman10k Says:
Jul 21, 2010 - omega got their moneys worth, that was a very well produced advertisement
davidgwaters Says:
Jul 21, 2010 - Highlander - Most of the daily news updates we get are in 480 resolution OR LESS. No possibility of 720p. Sometimes higher res video is available later, but that would mean we couldn't get the stories on as fast.

Jul 21, 2010 - I loved the show this week! I loved the Apollo-Soyuz segment. It was great to see those guys kidding around with each other. We need more of that. Modern NASA feels so sterile so much of the time. I loved the Speedmaster segment too. Sure, they're a sponsor, but I really liked the historical info of it.
MrSpaceartist Says:
Jul 23, 2010 - IMHO NASA should join forces with ESA to develop the Ariane-Saturn 6.This would be cool!Cosmic greetings from the space-artist........Ralf Schoofs

Jul 23, 2010 - Great show on Apollo / Soyuz it's a forgotten misson compared to the moon landings. Say, didn't Miles forget about the 41st anniversary of Apollo 11 this week (July 20th)?

Aug 2, 2010 - A new HLV ?!! What was wrong with the Ares V ?!! It was designed to carry 180 tons to low Earth obrit ! And 71 tons to the Moon and beyond !! Why go back to the drawing board yet again ?!!! Wasting more time and american tax dollars !!? Finish the Ares V !!! It would keep a good percent of NASA jobs too ! Get SpaceX to carry human crew ! Until then keep the Space Shuttle going with twice a year launches !!

Sep 4, 2010 - @hornetpalooza I absolutely love the Apollo-Soyuz story. I wish humanity gave itself more opportunities to transcend geographical, cultural and ideological differences in the spirit of pure human curiosity that so many of us are born with.Awesome show as usual, great editing and narration.THIS IS SO SO TRUE.

oisiaa Says:
Jul 20, 2010 - This new bill is not what I want to see. At least give us a true heavy lift rocket, something unlike any rocket that has been built before.
