Oct 18, 2011 - I regret this song is always CENSORED.Both of Woody Guthrie's verses below are mostly unknown.But...is it any wonder why?"As I was walkin' - I saw a sign thereAnd that sign said - no tresspassin'But on the other side .... it didn't say nothin! Now that side was made for you and me!""In the squares of the city - In the shadow of the steepleNear the relief office - I see my peopleAnd some are grumblin' and some are wonderin'If this land's still made for you and me."

Mar 10, 2012 - I love Johnny Cash and have since I was a child and seen him in the 60's. Unfortunately this song represents the sell out side of him. For all the respect I have for a lot of his stances on behalf of others I can't for the life of me understand why he chose to not do the whole song? Missing: "There was a big high wall there that tried to stop me; Sign was painted, it said private property; But on the back side it didn't say nothing; This land was made for you and me.

heathdwatts Says:

Mar 17, 2012 - The Carter Family may have adapted their song from the hymn 'Oh, My Loving Brother". Folk songs didn't have owners until the record companies came.

Stone Boy Singh Says:

May 12, 2012 - I agree, It is kinda bs. I like the sentiment and the music for sure but this land was ripped off through murder & terror on men, women and the slaughter of native children alike by Europeans through chemical warfare and rifles. That is why this land is sopposed to be our land. It's not our land people. It's owned by massive multinational corporations and leased out to us. C'mon people, let's grow up please?

rarewwiivideos101 Says:

May 19, 2012 - Yeah. Get over it.

furtadogerry Says:

rubetue Says:

May 28, 2012 - My Great Grandmother was full blood Choctaw Native American. She would NOT take offense to this ... as we are ALL a people of America and should be caring about our brothers & sisters, while not forgetting the past that builds the character to forge forward into the future. Peace!
