Title: The Singularity of Ray Kurzweil
Added: Apr 13, 2009
Author: VBSdotTV
Duration: 6:50
Description:
Watch the rest of the series: http://vice.com/motherboard/the-singularity-of-ray-kurzweilRay Kurzweil tells us about his vision of the Singularity—a point around 2045 when computers will acquire full-blown artificial intelligence and technology will infuse itself with biology. His theories have all sorts of supporters, detractors, and critics, but do you even remember what life was like before three-year-olds had cell phones and you actually had to remember facts instead of relying on the internet? That was only 10 years ago. If Kurzweil is right, we'll have supercomputers more powerful than every human brain on the planet combined within a few decades.Check out more exclusive footage on Dell Lounge:http://delllounge.com/blogs/raykurzweil/archive/2009/04/10/episode-1-two-become-one.aspxVBS is no longer active. Feb 4, 2012 - nothing is real this is all a simulatiion created by conscienceness even hell and heaven are simulations its not that serious git over the fear

Feb 5, 2012 - @mysticxhobo15 simple information and a 3d printer.
kataklysmozarella Says:
Feb 6, 2012 - Mr. Kurzweil is an extremly smart man.But there is a long history of eschatological salvation expectations (Naherwartungen);many of them resulting in gruesome desasters. And the enthusiastic notions about the ''technological singularity'' are, in my opinion, an actual example of this phenomenon.I think there's a good chance that the ''technological singularity'' (as unstoppable as it might be ) simply leads to an existence of INFINITE boredom and desperation.

Feb 8, 2012 - between this and zeitgeist my mind is beyond fucked right now.
lololololol47 Says:
Feb 14, 2012 - @mysticxhobo15 He means that you could send schematics or a link via the internet and it will be assembled from the molecular level (if it is nano-tech) on your side and there you go a toaster. However you probably don't need nano-tech for a toaster, 3-d printers like the one out now would do it.
cyberslick18 Says:
Feb 19, 2012 - Not just western religion, you can toss Hinduism, Islam, and Judaism in there too.
vdesignz Says:
Feb 21, 2012 - Kurzweil thinks if we can map how the brain works, "the templates, software algorithms" of human intelligence, that we'll be able to build self-referencing machines that will be "smarter" than any human. Well, we may have computers in 15 yrs that surpass the computing power of the brain yet it's the subtle philosophic question, such as is the heart of Phillip K Dick's novel "Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep", that shall remain unasked by computers lacking a sense of self and personal memories
kataklysmozarella Says:
Feb 22, 2012 - (macbeth - act v, scene v)".... and all our yesterdays have lighted fools the way to dusty death"well, this time death might be pretty nano-dusty.
hrolvnir Says:
hrolvnir Says:
Mar 8, 2012 - Judaism and Islam are Western religions. Buddhism, Taoism and Hinduism aren't. Confucianism is arguably not a religion. No hate, just FYI.
Psionics7 Says:
Mar 10, 2012 - okkkkkk
deanmullen10 Says:
Mar 11, 2012 - But surely by then we'll have the technology to overcome boredom & desperation. I mean don't you think that the fact technology will be so advanced we will be able to overcome the simple problem of getting bored. We could control our emotions so that watching a film is as exciting watching it any more times as it was the first hence never get bored of it.
deanmullen10 Says:
Mar 11, 2012 - what's the difference between his prediction for 2029 & 2045. what does he believe will occur in both?
deanmullen10 Says:
Mar 17, 2012 - I think a virtual universe will come about around mid-century, a universe of which will appear real and eventually people will migrate into it and the real world will become old. From cities into virtual cities. But eventually people will realize they can just drown in emotions and they can exist as digitized consciousness. So in some sense humanity will dissapear and they may not even care for things such as history then or even be aware of the present, they'll just drown in happiness.

Ragin20 Says:
Apr 16, 2012 - In 2029 he believes that a computer will be able to pass the turing test (a computer will be indistinguishable from a human being), in 2045-Singularity will be reached and computers will be brighter, smarter than human beings and computers (AIs) will be able to self-improve, amend themselves becoming millions/trillions times smarter than human beings. I hope that helps--You should check out the movie Transcendent Man-I gives you alot of info about the theory of Singularity.

Apr 20, 2012 - buddism already answer essential issue
StarOceanSora360 Says:
Apr 26, 2012 - 2030s singularity occurs possible development of infinitely intelligent omnipotent, omniscient AIs who will saturate the macroverse and infinite dimension with wisdom and intelligence2030s imaginary vr simulations commnplace, humans will choose this forever since all things will be possible in their own dreamland infinite paradise2050s cosmic hive mind created all life ever died in the cosmos will be resurrected2200s all imaginable and beyond is infinitely transcended, beyond is mystery
lvbuckeye Says:
Apr 26, 2012 - have fun with that idea. God doesn't exist within your mind. God exists EVERYWHERE and AT EVERY TIME SIMULTANEOUSLY (outside of time actually, but that's a concept that is pretty difficult for us to wrap our heads around.) and nothing in this video precludes this fact.
TyPaen Says:
May 19, 2012 - What a lot of bullshit.
TheNeoAvalonEmpire Says:
May 19, 2012 - Well it could be disproved if we pinpointed the exact origin of the system of beliefs, but this would be very hard. additionally: chill out, and its ALL religions.
Machiminimo Says:
May 27, 2012 - Maybe with a supercomputer a billion times more powerful than today we could get less pixely and laggy videogames. The first Cray supercomputer was only 64 bit iirc, and that's a n00b compared to PS3 and stupid XBOX 360. Even weakling Wii beat that old Cray.

heruthemaster Says:
Feb 4, 2012 - you got it western religion and the esoteric stuff isnt even brought up like nosticism thanx for that perspective tao teh cheng
