Bruce Lee even returned to HongKong and tried to bribe Ip Man into letting him film the 116 dummy techniques in exchange for a HongKong flat. Ip Man refused.

Sep 6, 2010 - I like Master Wong's answer about where he learned/what lineage etc. It's all BS! Who cares! Wing Chun, Ving Tsun, Wing Tsun, who the fuck cares! WC has too much style politics, and that's exactly what Bruce Lee was against! I agree with Master Wong. As long as it works, who the hell cares! If you don't like his style, then don't watch or learn it. Do your own! Everyone is different. Even if he learnt himself, does it make him shit? NO! His WC is better than most so called 'GrandMASTERS'!

Sep 6, 2010 - I like his training methods and how he mixes it with Tai Chi and JKD. Most WC training i've seen is too rigid and slow, and he streamlines his system and modifies it into something useful and deadly. He has a curious blend of soft and HARD style, and he has a very good understanding of martial arts in general. I could care less who he learnt from or what lineage he's from. Talking and arguing about politics is a waste of time and takes away from what's really important.. which is functionality!!

Oct 4, 2010 - @Downfacingdog Ip man wasnt considered Bruce Lee's true teacher anyway Wong shung leung was more of a teacher to him as he train with him every day where as Ip man only trained with him like twice a month. And it doesnt matter if he didnt finish his training as long as he understood what he had already learnt then he could teach that. And he didnt need to finish his wing chun training anyway coz later he developed jeet kune do.

Basketball, are you going to be better or good as Michael Jordan if he teaches you? That's absurd, you're not but does that mean you won't be good? maybe. If you like and follow Master Wongs system and it works/helps you then does it matter if he learned from Bruce Lee or the guy down the street? Something to think about
