Title: Make a step stool with free Craigslist wood!

Added: Nov 13, 2009

Author: stevinmarin

Duration: 9:51

Description:
A quick woodworking project using free wood I picked up off Craigslist. It's a neat little folding stool. Check Craigslist daily in your area: there are often people giving away lumber. Act fast though...it usually goes quickly!

Jan 25, 2012 - Very interesting work.. my husband and myself have made a lot of furniture for our home in the past... when our daughters were growing up... this was our best hobby.. BUT, I have an advice for you..being 63 years old, I take the liberty to do this... YOU HAVE TO WEAR SAFETY GLOVES WHEN YOU ARE ON THE CUTTING MACHINE.. IT'S NOT A JOKE..

Feb 19, 2012 - What a good idea such a clever man

synapse131 Says:

Feb 29, 2012 - NEVER, EVER wear gloves when working with power tools. You just massively increase the likelihood to get the glove caught in something and to lose a finger or hand. It also causes people to become complacent and forget that they have hands in close proximity to moving blades. Gloves are a big No No. Folks think it's safer but it is not; every single shop teacher I ever had emphasized this.

soniapapadouri Says:

Feb 29, 2012 - You are totally right, but, I didn't mean ordinary gloves... the steel ones are the appropriate ones... this is what I know... anyway, being extra careful is the most important... I think we agree on that...

synapse131 Says:

Mar 4, 2012 - Aaaahhhh....I see. I didn't know about protective gloves such as you mentioned (that's a new one for me.) That actually sounds like a good idea (as long as they are tight fitting and one is careful.) Regular work gloves are a very bad idea but specially made protective gloves sound really cool (thanks for the tip!) Definitely agree that being safe and careful (in whatever form that may take) is a good idea.

soniapapadouri Says:

Mar 4, 2012 - Good Morning... you can view these stainless steel mesh safety gloves if you visit "Reliable Factory Supply" on Google.. Have a productive and happy day...

synapse131 Says:

Mar 5, 2012 - Thanks for the tip; I very much appreciate it. Could be very useful and I'll look into these (when I can afford to!) I'm always nervous and hyper-aware around power tools (not a bad thing) and it would be nice to have that extra measure of safety. Take it easy.

Apr 16, 2012 - you realise that this entire project could be pretty easily completed with a handsaw and a hand drill? And he has repeated many times, his tools are just cheap, he bought most of them on craigslist for a huge discount, quit bashing on steve!
