It also causes people to become complacent and forget that they have hands in close proximity to moving blades. Gloves are a big No No. Folks think it's safer but it is not; every single shop teacher I ever had emphasized this.

That actually sounds like a good idea (as long as they are tight fitting and one is careful.) Regular work gloves are a very bad idea but specially made protective gloves sound really cool (thanks for the tip!) Definitely agree that being safe and careful (in whatever form that may take) is a good idea.
